K&n dyno results
2 Attachment(s)
as title says, i dynoed my car with k&n typhoon intake.
i read on this fourm that they had a problem fitting the intake with the throttle body. maybe i read wrong, but i did not have any problems installing them. it was a good fit. the dyno i went on was a what people in vancouver called "heartbreaker" (mustang dyno at racing greed) stock car dynoed at: 216whp and 175ft-ibs with greddy tic: 223whp and 178ft-ibs greddy tic + k&n intake: 229whp and 186 ft-ibs pretty happy with the intake. the torque gain was noticeable for sure. when i installed the intake... i was suprised that my car came with a block heater. does everyone have block heater??? it was hidden below the stock intake box bad picture.... |
cool. do you know which cone filter model your intake uses? there should be like a 4 digit number on the box(?).
|
Wow those are low numbers... That really is a heartbreaker dyno!
I didnt have that low of numbers and I dynoed on a Mustang Dyno at Sound Performance hmmmmm.. Well a dyno is only something to base mods off of congrants on the install DAN |

are you sure they didnt cross your resluts with a 350z?
|
Something is way off with the dyno. Way too low. A stock 350Z/G35 puts out about that much...
|
all canadian 370z comes with a block heater

doesn't matter what the numbers are, what matters is the gains each mod gives, which seems like a good amount. Don't let the numbers fool ya!
|
I never saw anyone win or lose a race on a Dyno. Good gains!
|
Yup it's all about the gains. :)
But I'm thinking they did your runs in 3rd? |
Ok, wait...lets not get carried away...number DO matter. Does you car feel like its running well? Reason i say this is because the DYNO helped me diagnose my old car (350z) was not running well. I went to a dyno jet and pulled 200rwhp stock on a 2003. There were other 2003's stock putting down 225-235. Thats a big difference! I dont if the dyno you went to reads low or whatever, but when i took my car to nissan (with dynos!) they did a compression test and found out i had very bad compression in 3 cyclinders on a 6 month old vehicle( back in 2003).

Good results. So it looks like the filters are where the gains are rather than the tubing. K&N drop in filters have been shown to give 5-6hp and 5-6 torque. These short tube intakes appear to give 6hp and 8 torque, roughly the same as the drop in filters. So it's a matter of preference of look rather than performance. Good to know. Thanks for the dyno graphs.
