Tanabe Y-Pipe
Has anyone installed this Y-pipe by itself on the stock system? Its been done and reviewed with HFC's or as the entire cat-back, but what of just the Y-pipe. Has anyone done it yet? Any sound differences, volume, etc.?

I'm one of the ones that installed it after HFC's. I dynoed stock, then with HFC's and then swapped in the Tanabe Y-pipe. So I guess I haven't done what you were asking but can tell you that it will deepen the note of the exhaust a bit, reduce some rasp and give 5 hp throughout the curve. I would say that if you are not going to go with HFC's down the road then the Tanabe Y-pipe would not be worth it as the best part of the y-pipe was that it reduced the rasp from the HFC's
Hope that helps |

Yeah, I'm sorry I can't give you more info at the moment 6spd. I will be taking video this coming week both inside the car as well as outside so I will let you know when I get those posted.

cool, ill be anxiously awaiting it! i am very open to the idea of doing HFC's and the y-pipe. No way will I replace the muffler though, that'll get too loud.

1 of the Cat bolts was on rediculously tight. Had to use a huge extension and breaker bar (with a jack handle on it )
The combination of the y-pipe and HFC's sounds amazing. Zero drone but aggressive when WOT. I achieve most of the gains of a CB but still looks stock and is not as loud |

I have only compared myself to other 370zs that have dyno'ed on the SpecialtyZ dyno just to keep the dyno issue out of the equation: my car put down similar if not more power than intake/CBE/tune 370s that had gone before. I am happy and was pleasantly surprised at results!
