Injen vs. Stillen 3g Need help on decision

So im thinking of getting a CAI on my car and its either Injen or stillen 3g. My question is what are the ups and downs of these two intakes? Which one is harder to install? And are they street legal?(government approved) Please help me understand a bit more about these CAI, thanks

Both are pretty easy to Install The big difference between the two is Stillens require some small cutting. Stillen has a little more hp gain but are more expensive than Injens. The Injens are a great choice if you don't wont modify anything, plus the Injens come with a replacement washer fluid tank that needs to be changed to make them fit. You may just have a shop install them if you have no time and no place to do it in?. I'd lean towards the Stillens. both are not carb approved but won't affect emissions output. There are plenty of DIY's on Injen and Stillen to search from, if you decide to do it yourself.

Give Lou at Amplified a call for a price + labor, he's a good vendor and sells both? or Calll Stillen also.

the stillen's design leaves them less prone to hydrolocking.

The stillen also help gains in the low end torque. I bought my stillen gen 3 this weekend at Z Nationals hope to have installed soon.

intakes help low end torque? i thought they pretty much really only help flow at higher RPMs, where the OEM intakes become slightly restrictive.

This is mostly with the short ram intakes...They produce little to negative power in comparision to stock...The Stillen and Injen CAI (LONGTUBES) show and prove better gains throughout the powerband over the stock boxes...from what I've read and reserached the Stillen seem to be superior over the Injens as far as HP is concerned...

The only downfall that I've seen with the Stillen's is during earlier installs of the product, a lot of people encountered problems with the intake rubbing up on the A/C lines causing damage...If installed correctly, then you won't have any problems with this...Also like mentioned if you don't want to cut, then the Stillen isn't for you...I don't see it as a big deal..the area that you have to cut isn't exposed, and can't bee seen...Also it's just a slight cut to get the intake pipes in...Not loke you gotta put a huge hole or anything.

Thx its just stock for now. But changing that fast. Have alot of ideas for paint just have to deside. Think im going to powder coat the wheels black, then paint door handles, emblems and side makers black, get a carbonfiber hood. I'll have my intake and red Z1 silicone rad. hoses installed. I still have to deside on exhaust, most likely going with Greddys Ti-C dual and HFC's. This is all in the next month or so. But by 2011 Z Nationals I hope to have a 4 stage turbo in it. Working out the price and plains with Z1 this coming week.

What car did you have there?

You can lose some torque with intakes or exhaust mods in the lower rpm range but a good tune can easily raise the torque back up to gain at every point in the power band.

Bump for an old thread. For my new G37 I'm in the same boat of which to go with. The add on that I like about the injen is that I can get it in black. But the power is better with the stilen.
