Red370,
How do they differ, in your opinion now that you have had both exhaust on your car?

I know a lot of this is subjective , but I like to know what your thoughts are now on these two good but very different "X" and "Y" types exhaust systems?

Thanks,:tiphat:

The Stillen/Berk combo was the only exhaust system I had, I drive an 11' 5.0 now, and the sound is completely different

The Stillen exhaust is just as good as any other, I think that combined with the HFC's, its the best sounding system at idle/WOT. Although it is a bit heavier than the other options. The thing I liked most about it is the fact that it looks more stock than the others, I've never been a fan of round mufflers because I'm a purist and I associate fart cans with Honda Civics/RSX's and the like. The only difference between an X/Y pipe is the sound, AND THATS IT. Anyone that says one or the other offers more power is full of shyt.

My first exhaust mod was the Berk HFC's, I did an independent dyno with them and seen gains of 15whp, in the end, while it sounded better than stock, I wanted a louder system, so I added the Stillen. Now with these cars, it seems the first exhaust mod nets the most gains, so with cats/cbe combo, you probably gained between 18-20whp. I can understand how happy you are with your setup, I was in love with mine from day one, but in the end, two seats became impractical for me, so I decided to get the Mustang, keep the power that I love and gain two seats (Ford as a company is also more "mod" friendly than Nissan, they almost seem to encourage it.) Enjoy the road trip.

Oh, just wanted to add something, I was rolling with the same setup you have now and to me, it felt like I lost quite a bit of my low end torque (breathing mods tend to do that w/o a tune), if you're looking to further gain some power, look into getting a tune, whether it be using UpRev or a Cobb Accessport, you'll know what i'm talking about the minute you load it up, i picked up a shitload of torque and gained throttle response as a bonus

Red370,
A tune is in the works, want to just but some miles on Orpheus for now , just to get everything broken in and following , get a real feel for the car and mods!

Next up will be Stillen Sway bars , Grounding kit and KW veriant 3 Coilover. 3M Clear bra.

After that Orpheus is going stealth "lol" :bowrofl:with either the Blinder M7 X -Treme or the Laser Interceptor ?

Standard equipment for my cross country trip!

I'll be posting on the trip soon!

Thanks,

Alex

Thanks a lot Red370, will certainly give your comments some thought.
I was surprised by my wife at a resent car show , she could take it or leave it at most car shows , but a Shelby Cobra not sure the year looked pretty new, caught her attention, let me tell you this car was gorgeous!
Oh well!

Good luck with the Mustang I’m sure with your car know-how you’ll make any car a winner.

Here's a final sound clip.

After driving around and I mean driving  with the Stillen CAI, CBE / Berk HFC combo the last two days, I'm just amazed at the butt gains so far, but mostly that wonderful roar, and exhaust note from low to top end, and to think it’s going to get a bit louder and deeper is in a few more driving cycles is amazing!

Here's a final sound clip. YouTube - MOV05014.AVI

Enjoy

My apologies guys, I have been MIA for a while . :hello:
Damaged the car couldn’t stop in time when a deer popped out of nowhere, my rear end started walking around me causing the car to cut off from the violent spinout , scrapped the side of the car against a guard rail .

It’s not till you experience your diving talent limitations and that of the car I guess, that you understand to fast is just too fast on some roads, I over reacted on a winding road with almost no shoulder and a lot of blind spots, that even on a good day could be dangerous and unforgiving ! :shakes head:

That being said, I was damn lucky no one was coming and no one got hurt.

I just picked up the car from the auto body shop , just some minor cosmetic stuff on the driver’s side ,that being said, I had them go over the whole car. “Orpheus” looks better than new, see pictures below.

I guess the only thing that got really bruised besides “Orpheus” was my driving ego!:icon14:

Rob, I stopped listening to my Stillen CBE and your Berk HFC since the accident, I'm only listen to "Classical" music now seems to be working.”lol”

Thanks ,

Alex

P.S. Dave , congratulations, how is that new F.I. CBE coming along, I’m sure it has changed the whole disposition of the car and driving experience, hope your enjoying it ! :driving:

Alex, glad to hear you are OK and Orpheus wasn't badly damaged. Deer, a little extra throttle and windy PA roads are a bad combination! Car looks great, BTW.

I'm loving the FI exhaust. I do still listen to the iPod, but not all the time. That sound just sucks me in! You'll hear me coming from a bit of a distance next time we're at a car show.

Just curious: what tires are you running? What kind of shape are they in? Wondering if they helped or hurt in your efforts to miss the deer.

Hey Dave,

How does the car feel and sound to you over stock now?
Would you say your gains are mid or in the high range RPM band, has it impacted your low range much ?

Any pictures ,sound clips of your new F.I. CBE ?

Thanks,

Alex

P.S. Any plans for HFC? :stirthepot:
