For those who have already R&D exhaust note...
I recently did a muffler delete, stock resonators and TP's and holy crap, the thing screams. I don't mind screaming, but only when I am screaming (5-7K), not 3k!! I ordered a couple of Magnaflow Bullets (hopefully goes on this weekend to give my ears a break) and wanted thoughts on putting stock CATs back on with the set up? I didn't notice much of a difference in swapping TPs for CATs, but when I axed that tin can in the rear, what a difference. For a V6, this thing is loud. I'm guessing the CATs would kill some of the rasp in the exhaust note, but I don't want to kill my nice gurgles and pops on decel....

Ok, I am going to try my best to answer this as I have done a few similar set ups.
1. the setup you have is extremely loud I ran it and it felt like it was going to rattle my hatch off in the 2.6k rpm area. The resonators do little to no help. 2. The magnaflow bullets will not kill the sound much at all. It will probably make it slightly deeper, but it will still be loud as HELL. 3. If you but Cats on, it will quiet down a little and you wont loose your gurles or pops. I liked the way straight pipes with cats sounded on my car tbh. All in all, the setup was still loud, but a little more modest and deeper with the cats on. I have since switched setups, but I hope this helped a little. BTW all of these setups will yeild very close to the same gains. Even with Test Pipes. PM me if you have any other questions |

Thanks, I think Ill throw the CATs back on and see how it goes. The CATless rasp is crazy after 3500rpm. Hoping the Magnaflow would mellow it a bit. I'll post some vids when it's done. For now I have to ease on the throttle in every municipality I drive through.... That ain't no fun....

Good to hear I won't loose the gurgles and pops either with CATs on as well...you know, if you design a car to be a sports car, why make the exhaust note sound like a Lexus?

Replacing the stock cats will make it slightly quieter but it's still very loud. The overrun sounds will still be very noticeable. Even with the stock cats, my muffler delete was still giving me headaches after 20min drives. I also was avoiding revving over 4k because it became deafening.
