Top Speed Exhaust Review
Well its one more thread but this one is mostly just to review it on the first page for anyone else who would like to take a look at the exhaust. First off, I have the y-pipe with it which you can get as well and I would definitely recommend you getting both the y-pipe and the top speed exhaust together. (Still cheaper than every other exhaust option)
First off, I picked mine up from this guy off ebay. 370z items - Get great deals on Exhausts Headers Manifolds DP items on eBay Stores! Seems like a really good guy. Had good communication when I needed to make sure it shipped at a certain date to arrive at a certain date. Review! I personally love the exhaust tone. Sounded great, not loud, no resonance in the cabin. Its extremely cost effective compared to the other exhausts out there and while I love the tone, some may not, thats personal opinion. By judgement from the butt dyno it did make a difference in the power. Also by a proper dyno! (talked about later) Here are two videos and some pictures. My 2009 PW Sports / Touring with Stillen Gen 3, Top Speed Exhaust. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOkXRp0gTxg My 2009 PW Sports / Touring with Top Speed Exhaust only (the video caption is wrong) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgmvsK7osTI Okay so some people have said its trash, that the single pipe won't make power etc etc yaddy yadda. Ive seen other single exhaust setups do well with power and no one questions them. I guess when the price tag is up in the thousands people automatically stop thinking with their brain (or when its less than 500) Essentially it does make power. Red line = Top Speed Exhaust. Blue Line = Stillen Gen III So there you have a direct comparison between the Top Speed Exhaust vs a Stillen Gen III intake system. Dyno's were taken on the same day in the same awfully hot weather conditions. As has been discussed in a different thread, the baseline for each car were the same as well when they were done on the same day also. So its cheap, it makes power, it sounds good (to me). The verdict? Its definitely worth it... for most. There are some people who are not happy with the exhaust until they spend alot of money on it. Money = quality to these people and while I don't agree, I don't have to agree. I like the tone, some may want something louder, more agressive etc. Some wont be happy till the tips are bigger, blue, stick out more etc for looks. Just take it for what it is. You like it or you don't but by a purely statistical value, its easily worth it. and from my personal POV, I think its really good. |

I'm confused as to what the dyno is comparing? Is the blue line the Gen 3 with the exhaust and the red line with just the Gen 3 intakes? Otherwise I'm not sure the point? Comparing an exhaust to an intake doesn't make much sense to me unless you were comparing from a purely cost per HP stance.

More of a fact that the exhaust creates power. Same as the gen 3 does which has been shown time and time again to do so. Simply stated take one dyno and people can say variables this or that. Take 2 dynos on same day one with new mod one with a proven mod and its a much much much better comparison.
Blue line is gen 3 only Red line is top speed exhuast with y pipe only |

Wouldn't it have been better to do completely stock vs exhaust? Or car with Gen 3 vs car with gen 3 and exhaust? Intakes for the most part provide gains only in the very high RPM range where as exhausts usually give gains somewhat throughout the RPM Range and a little bit more at high RPM. This comparison is just weird. It would have been nice to just see exactly what gains the exhaust had by itself. Exhaust does sound pretty good though and since it does make some power, I guess its worth it.

I bought this exhaust in July. I love it and have nothing but positive feedback about the sound. If you are on a budget, well worth it. Another happy top speed customer here

Kind of sucks how the power just flatlines after 6500rpms no?
On the exhaust only run, I am guessing you were using a stock airbox? Maybe that restricted the intake flow a bit? |

Is my math correct - Y pipe plus the exhaust is close to $800 total?
The sound is definitely an upgrade from stock.

as already stated in one of my video posts I also have this exhaust installed from day one and now drove it for around 5500miles in the city, on the autobahn and also on several tracks in Germany.
Not only that it definitely makes power (compared to other 370Z with stock exhaust system I raced against) but it also is excellent quality which survived everything from rainy weather, high speed drive (155mph for several minutes on the Autobahn) up to 20minute runs on a Grandprix race circuit with extremely high revs and high gear changes. There is nothing else to say than its absolutely flawless and worth the money big time ! Chris

you know, it's funny how stuck up the 370z guys seem to be about stuff like this. They frown on it because it's not a big name exhaust... where as the Lotus people, which I assume are in a higher tax bracket and can afford a more expensive exhausts, look at the actual quality of the exhaust, and not the name or price.
Disclaimer: I'm poor as ****, so I'm not talking about myself being rich or anything. However if I do get the Elise, I'll be getting the TS exhaust lol |
