Exhaust Experts...what is this unit?
I am almost done swapping my exhaust with a factory Nismo exhaust. Now if you are under the car, on each side past the brass-looking net/mesh, there are black rubbery units that are bolted to the exhaust. They don't have electrical connections.
Are these dampers? Are they needed? Thanks. |

They are there in order to dampen and remove any resonance in the exhaust pipe to relieve any potential vibration. Basically, I think it is overengineered and unnecessary but it is a vibration/resonance damper.
