Great idea! Might think of that one down the road.

Another trick is to use some penetrating spray and then run the car for a few minutes to let the bolts and studs expand. This will also make remove just a little bit easier. Also; you do not have to remove anything from the intake on the passenger's side but you will have to at least disconnect the driver's side intake from the throttle body to gain enough room to access that header to cat bolt.

I have the Stillen Gen3 installed... will I need to take this apart to get to the bolts with the extension? Please tell me I don't need to take the front fascia off again

Just letting you all know I sprayed some lubricant made to brake bolts lose...and all 6 bolts came off with ease! Not a single bolt or nut was harmed in the process! Now I just have to wait for my gaskets to get here since the guy I bought them from on the forum didn't inform me he wasn't including them open headers is wayyyyy too loud!

You are one lucky dog! Mine was horrific as well. I am keeping the demon bolt as a keep sake. lol

Hey Alex,

I just got done installing my Berk HFC's. I did not have any issues with the demon bolt either. I recommend you use "liquid wrench penetrating oil" to get them off with ease. I am happy with them so far. I will like them even more once I get my Berk CBE installed

Just posted this on the Berk's tread!

Congratulations on your install and defeating the dreaded “Demon” bolts!
Should sound great with your Berk's CBE!

I think you picked one of the very best HFC ,IMO . I like the fact that the Berk’s are 300, they have o2 extenders and support for the brace, made in the USA ,
also the feedback from users concerning o2 CEL issues has been every minimal, that’s why I’m also going with Berk’s.

Good luck with it!

Alex

P.S. Any sound clips in the works?

Definitally will do, I saw a clip on YouTube with same setup and the sound is unbelievable. I love that American throat, small block sound, this exhaust has a small hint of that. The exhaust notes that come out on decal are crazy! Stillen takes the win in my book.

The test pipes really opened up the bottom end, my wife even came home asking what I did to the car. I'm really curious to see what a dyno would show. Plus I'm getting 23MPG.

don't try to loosen them while the engine is cold! break them loose while the engine is hot. whatever corrosion that has fused the fasteners together will be soft from the heat and act as a lube.

I tried to use that method but it was no luck. I had to remove my Injen CAI to have more room for my ratchet . I did mine cold with lots of penatrating lube. No broken bolts what so ever

I think mine was the worst case recorded in history. lol I had to cut the driver side cat in half and pry the remaining end off then use an air chisel to break the demon bolt.

Yes it sucked but I won. Me 1 Z 0.
