The OEM Nismo is still very tame compared to other aftermarket systems. I had to upgrade even tho I tried several things with the Nimso (test pipes, HFC, and resonators removed) still couldn't achieve the tone I was looking for with the Nismo. Depends on what sound youre looking for ultimately

Agreed. Almost every aftermarket exhaust is going to be measurably, if not significantly louder than your OEM Nismo. I had the Nismo myself for a month or two before ditching it for the Stillen. I'm very glad I did...perhaps you should too.

Do either one of you guys have an exhaust clip? How loud is it? Im all about efficient performance as well, i dont see aftermaret exhaust giving much more than the Nismo, being that exhaust doesnt do much on a near stock vehicle anyway...

i read in the Nismo section a forum member actually measured the Nismo exhaust..its actually pretty good with 2.4in piping besides the H-pipe which bottle necked to 2.1...a good replacement H-pipe would most likely bring it close to most aftermarket setups..

Which is better the Nismo stock “H” or Nismo S tune “Y” ?

Craniac24, Just wondering looking at your mods, why no HFC?

Thanks,

Alex

I've been back and forth on whether or not to add an HFC, but I think that I'm pretty happy with the volume and tone of the intake/exhaust setup as is. For me, adding an HFC might make my car a little too loud for my taste.

Awesome I'll check that sound clip out when I get time, and this is just me guessing but an H pipe will even out exhaust pressures on a dual exhaust system, a Y pipe is cut down to a single pipe somewhere along the system, so id assume that the H pipe is gonna do ya better...I could be wrong, I don't know much about the Z's yet...

The problem, from what I could see, with the Nismo OEM Exhaust is the big-*** combined (not sure the word) muffler. Most of the aftermarket exhausts are either true-dual, or at least dual mufflers, which helps with power and sound quite a bit I'd imagine.

Most aftermarket exhausts add a ton of sound at much lower rpms than the Nismo as well.

Yeah i can see that, its kinda nice to have something half quiet for now though. My SRT-10 was straight dual 3" exhaust, high flo cats (300 cell), and longtube race headers, it would throw flames at 6K

i am running the nismo and couldn't be happier. The H pipe setup is very efficient and the piping diameter is comparable to aftermarket. I had the FI exhaust prior to this and the gains are similar as well.

I have the nismo exhaust with Berks HFC's. Im just not willing to spend over a grand for five or maybe a little more horsepower for a new cat back exhaust .As for myself I am considering a new X-pipe to replace the stock H-pipe. If the exhaust note after that is not to loud and obnoxious I might consider removing the resonators, but I doubt it. Please no more trucks with big four inch loud a$$ exhaust tips. It just dont spell cool at all!!!

Lol i had 4.5" tips on my SRT, and 5" tips on my 08 Tundra but they both sounded amazing

These Berk HFC's (high flow cats?) everyone is talking about, do they give alot better throttle response? What kinda $ are we looking at?

Also (sorry for all the questions) how many cats do these cars come with?
