Default HFC Engine Damage?

Hey all -

Just a quick question. I know this forum would be the best resource. I did a search query already with no success.

I questioned the dealer of potential problems of installing a HFC. They warned me I would void the warranty (which I knew). But they said HFC can break apart and your engine can suck up the debris and damage the engine. Is this true? I appreciate the help!

Another reason I was concerned is because of the steel wool that is reccomended so that the ECU will not throw a code. Thanks again

dealership trying to scare you. simple as that.

1 why would it break. If something happened that would break them that would break the stock cats too.

and why would the engine suck in debris? It is a part of the exhaust not the intake

LOL! stealerships at it again. I could possibly see them saying this about aftermarket intakes. But HFC??? what a load of BS, walk in there tell them they are D bags, and find mod friendly dealer if you can.

So what's the steel wool for? Sound suppression?

Are you packing it into the HFCs? Test pipes?

I agree with most. The Dealers using Scare tactics, and I would find another dealer that is mod friendly. The void warranty is only for a part that directly fails from an aftermarket bolt on, and it doesn't void the warranty for the rest of the car.
