What kind of resonators do you have? The stock ones are terrible and I was thinking about replacing those with some aftermarket ones but I'm not sure what options are out there?!

Any help would be appreciated!

Finally said screw it and took it off this evening, planning on getting pipes fab'd Monday.
I honestly did not notice a bit of difference between washer mod and taken the whole assembly off...

I'm glad I did it but now it's not loud enough.... Go figure, any ideas on making it louder (i.e. HFC's or test pipes)?

Test pipes will give it a bit of volume, but will add some rasp to the note (very IMSA like).

Ahh, thanks. I may go that route.

Well I'm glad I went this route, took the muffler off and drove 2 days with it off.. Was very unamused how quiet it was. Little did I know as soon as you put pipes and tips back on the noise level multiplies 50 x's!.. I don't think its "loud" at all until you really get into it.. but I love it now sounds sick!
I painted the pipes black so they are not as noticeable.. heres a pic 3/4 of way through install.

Nice! Looks exactly like mine and I agree, I don't think it's that loud until you get into the high RPM range. A friend of mine has a 'vette ZO6 and he removed the mufflers and ran straight pipes. His setup is ridiculously loud compared to my car.

I don't know how you guys deal with the drone. If the drone was gone, I'd have left it like this. I just couldn't take it though.

Actually, I don't mind it. Has anyone done a dyno to see if there are any gains at all with this setup? I know I've read some other topics on this board that relate to it but I wasn't sure if there was any difference.

Yeah I know that noise, I used to own a couple Vipers prior to the Z, One of which was a 94 RT/10. Pretty much straight pipes considering it was from the header to a 12'' muffler then out below the door.. really opens up once you get rid of there GIANT converter and mufflers.

I really dont notice it on mine at all? Its honestly quiet until you get past 2,500. When Im cruising on interstate (when Im actually moving) its dead quite unless I kick it down to pass a car..

Now, a Viper with straight pipes would sound incredible. I've heard a few with (I'm assuming) aftermarket exhausts but I know they were running straight pipes.

Kill the drone with side branch resonators, works perfectly and no power loss. Have them on my car and can vouch for their awesome drone-killing power.

so wait, is it possible to fit a 12 inch resonator on a "muffler delete" pipe?

Im thinking of doing this and putting an ultra quiet resonator on there. Im curious as its probably louder than stock, but not much.
