Exhaust electric cutouts
This may have already been asked before but I didn't find anything when I searched the forums. Does anyone have the electric cutouts for the exhaust installed? I bought a couple of them off a guy that had them on his 350z and was curious what they sounded like on a 370. I've heard them on other cars and they sound amazing. Any thoughts on this?

why would you want one? I have heard it before on a 350z and honestly a aftermarker exhaust sounds alot better.

What is an electric cutout and what does it do?
|
I personally don't see the point.

I've just heard different things about it. It gives a more aggressive sound with a deeper tone, along with supposedly a little more hp. In my opinion it's a good option because you can open and close it anytime you want and it comes with a switch to install in your car. Maybe it is a dumb idea, maybe its not.

Wouldn't it be better on a loud a$$ aftermarket exhaust and not the oem one?
|
Do your research. Aftermarket is a great option. Always going to be a first if you do go that route.

I have the Stillen catback exhaust. It sounds good, but not as aggressive as I would like sometimes...keyword "sometimes"...and with this I have the option of doing it whenever I like. The only thing I'm hesitant about is welding a small extra pipe to the exhaust where the part would be installed.

Depending on other mods you might have to be careful you don't lean out too much.
Ideally you would switch maps in case you go to the open exhaust... |
I had cutout on my CAmaro and it's very common in Camaro (fbody) and Mustang community (for drag racing etc). However, not really too popular among imports. I think you'll be better off getting HFC or good cat back exhaust. My :twocents:

they work alot better on boosted vehicles

I guess I should stay away from the idea then. I was just thinking of a way to make the exhaust a little louder and deeper without spending a lot of money, and a few people recommended this to me, plus I got a great price on the electronic cutout.
