Intakes causing AC lines to rip?
I have - what the dealer told me - the 'high and low' lines (rubber) for the AC torn due to vibration from my intakes...And since the intakes were not installed their they wont cover it under warrenty.
Now - I could have sworn someone else had an issue like this with the lines ripping and I'm not sure if it was due to intakes either. Anyway - if someone can tell me what those lines are and if I can replace them myself - I will gladly do it because they want $578 to do the job. Any help is appreciated!

I know of a few members on here who have had the same issue with their AC lines getting broken due to the Stillen G3 intake. Not sure if anybody has actually had luck replacing the AC lines themselves though. The only one I know for sure was tru_Asiatik, but he got his done at a dealership. Maybe ask him how much he paid or something?

Yeah, its in the DIY thread. Once you do repair the lines be sure to apply one of the cheap methods to make sure it doesnt happen again.
DIY: STILLEN G3 Intakes

These lines that are broken - are they rubber or metal? He made it seem like it was rubber..
Edit: he just called me back and its the same metal lines from the DIY thread. Great...I have no idea where I would be able to pick that up and repair it myself.

Yes, after its been repaired, thats easy. What I am asking is there anyway I can repair those metallic lines - inexpensively - bypassing the dealer rape.

no , you have to replace them, as the high side of the a/c system can run up 350psi, but on average 250psi. how many hours are they quoting you?also i get huge discounts on nissan parts here, if u want ill get u a price for them and ship them to you , to help u save some cash!!

You're going to want to replace them, but if you get the part number, you can source out a good price on them, and then find a shop that will do the labor, then just have your A/C system recharged.
Intakes rubbing through A/C lines has been around as long as the 350Z has been around. Not paying attention on my '04 G35 I ate through a line with my AEM CAI, and had to have it fixed. All it needed was a little adjustment to not hit, which I'm sure yours did too, but like these guys have stated (and why we include rubber and specifically point it out in the instructions) is to avoid this. |

I was an early adopter and for some reason I never saw that DIY thread or else I would have prevented it. It is my fault completly, I just dont feel like dishing out $587 for the job. Jnaut, what do you think of that price?

I don't see why the lines would be hard to replace to be honest with you. You just need the right sized wrenches. Below is a link for the lines from Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com. Seems they're only $40 and $70 each.

Ok the guy called back again and said the 'new' price is $523 with labor. He said one line is $155 and the other was $79.99 - something like that. I didnt get the exact parts he was talking about but he said 'high and low' line. Also includes recharging yada yada yada
