Injen CAI windshield washer tank
Hey all :hello:
I just finished installing my Injen intake last night. Everything went well but I just wanted to see what others thought about my findings. I noticed that there was no hole to put the washer fluid level sensor. it looks like they were going to put a hole but never cut it out? Anyways, I went ahead and drilled a hole and fitted a new sensor I had laying around from my wife's Xterra. It went it with little modification and works great. Did anyone else do this? If not, do have to deal with the low fluid light? http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...y/DSC01331.jpg http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/s...y/DSC01330.jpg |
Nope, I didnt do it. I thought about it, but chose not to. I had no light regarding it, so all is well if you dont. I do however have that sensor plug ziptied somewhere in there doing nothing though :icon17:

I didn't think to do that during my install and have had no low fluid light. Isn't really a problem as I usually check fluid levels every other fill up.

!
Sounds good to me!
I can't believe they did not go ahead and cut the hole. It looks like it was in the design? Are there any issues with this intake that I should keep a look out for? Thanks in advance:tup: |
+1 rep for drilling the hole. :)
|
It does seem like a small over sight.
|
Well, at my next filter cleaning I think I'll drill the hole!

Hmm, yet another sensor on our car that doesn't illuminate when a fluid level is low...

It was probably late and I FAT fingered it. Thanks for the grammar lesson though  PS: AK, if you read this can you fix my thread title with the proper grammar ;) |
Why did you use a spare sensor and not the one in the Z?

PS: Thanks whoever reported the grammar errors to AK :) |

Just an update- For those interested in doing this to your tank I have to report (NO PROBLEMS) to date. I still can't get over why Injen did not have the hole drilled and designed for the sensor :(
At least it is pretty easy to MOD yourself if you want to have your washer tank fully functional :) |

long story short, I just ended up not bothering it and still no fluid light :tup::tup: I cant understand why AK's light illuminates but not everyone elses? |

I would rather see them include a new sensor if it's really that difficult to get the original out, but at least the tank seems to have been designed with the sensor in mind |

Thanks for starting this thread. It was a good sanity check for me... I went ahead and hole sawed the bottom of the reservoir and installed the original sensor. It works great but we had to apply a little calk to keep it from leaking (the grommet was weakened from removal). The original sensor and grommet were removed with as much care as possible. We sawed the old reservoir in half to reduce the likelihood of damaging the sensor and grommet during removal.
