Why did you use a spare sensor and not the one in the Z?

I had a brand new one in front of me that I thought I needed for my wife's Xterra. That sensor fits really snug with that rubber seal. It was just easier to put the new one out of the box than try and get the one from the Z out of the tank.

PS: Thanks whoever reported the grammar errors to AK

Just in stalled an injen last night and that fluid level sensor is almost impossible to get out without damaging!...
long story short, I just ended up not bothering it and still no fluid light I cant understand why AK's light illuminates but not everyone elses?

If you wanted the light to function properly you could pick up that sensor cheap. I bet forum vendor Scott from Fontana Nissan could hook you up

And that is why they don't put a hole in the tank, if they did then you would have to get the old sensor out. But this way you don't need to, but you can if you want.

I would rather see them include a new sensor if it's really that difficult to get the original out, but at least the tank seems to have been designed with the sensor in mind

Thanks for starting this thread. It was a good sanity check for me... I went ahead and hole sawed the bottom of the reservoir and installed the original sensor. It works great but we had to apply a little calk to keep it from leaking (the grommet was weakened from removal). The original sensor and grommet were removed with as much care as possible. We sawed the old reservoir in half to reduce the likelihood of damaging the sensor and grommet during removal.

Just an update- For those interested in doing this to your tank I have to report (NO PROBLEMS) to date. I still can't get over why Injen did not have the hole drilled and designed for the sensor

At least it is pretty easy to MOD yourself if you want to have your washer tank fully functional
