Homemade Fresh Air Intake for Stillen G3s

So Every since I installed my G3s I've been trying to think of a way to deliver some nice cool fresh air to the 2 filters. I've looked at some aftermarket pieces but all seem and look a lil ricey too me. I wanted something a lil more subtle but that would still get the job done. So after some experimenting I came up with something I'm pretty happy with. Check out the pic below and see what you think.

Interesting... id like to see a bit more detail on how you routed the tubes.

All it is is two 90 degree 3" PVC pipe painted black. Had to remove the white foam piece that rest between the frame and the bumper to expose the intakes.

I thought about that haha hopefully that doesn't happen. surely if I hit something it'll be hard enough that the foam piece wouldn't have done me much good anyways

You know your changing the bumpers crash protection by modifying or removing foam from it?

Trying to get cooler air to the Stillen filters? isn't gaining anything. Unless it's ac cooled air. Your setup looks like you have air horns. Looks terrible. Sorry

You'd be really surprised at how much energy that little foam piece actually absorbs.

If you look at the current NASCAR Sprint Cup cars, they run a foam block like that on each door panel for extra protection in side impacts with the wall. It really makes a difference!

From a safety standpoint I would definitely rethink the design. I don't think it's worth it to compromise your safety for a marginal power gain.

besides just a copy of an already existing DIY out there, with a twist that makes it look ricey

I highly recommend you put that foam piece back in! Maybe mod the foam piece so that you can keep it in!

Why? Well I had a mishap recently where I bumped into a guard rail and I believe that foam piece might of save from more damage!

Hey, you gave it a good shot. The Nismo bumper I'm sure has some unique challenges of it's own that forces you to think outside the box. That said, don't put your safety at risk. Take the bumper cover back off and see if there's another way to route some tubing.

This has been discussed before....Here's a slick piece designed for the Corvette that could be made to fit and look pretty nice...
