Oh, BTW, I went back to more carefully scrutinize those dynos in the other thread --
While mean gains after 3.25K were just under 5 whp/wtq, peak gains were as high as 10 whp/wtq! That's insane for just an air filter!

oh yeah, they are very good for just filters. a throttle response change is commonplace because of the lowered restriction, but actual HP over the entire rpm range, thats a total bonus.

Just got back from dyno today. Did three pulls and here are the results.
1st 279hp 2nd 278hp 3rd 279hp My car is bone stock with only k&N drop in. All the other stock 370zs put down average around 275hp and 277hp. But, there were another bone stock 370z put down 279hp on one of the pull though. I am not sure if I actually get any gain from the k&n drop in |

Why would you not just swap out filters while it's already on a dyno? Do you not have the stock filters anymore? You can't just blindly compare other people's dyno results to yours, it doesn't work that way.

Also, just curious, but how much torque? They didn't give you a dynoplot? Oh, and auto or manual? There's not much difference between the two on the dyno, but certainly enough of a difference to obscure the impact of a higher flow filter.

well thats peak hp, the dyno chart would reveal the larger gain areas for sure.

Any increase would make it a worthwhile investment given that it doesn't cost all that much. If it gets even a third of the gain from a Stillen G3 intake, it's done it's job. You really can't compare your result with other Z's. Like you said, other stock Z's put down different numbers. Your stock setup could have been one of the low numbers and gained a few with the drop in's. Post your chart if you can.

Thanks for posting the chart. Nothing really jumps out. I could be mistaken, but most of the stock Z's usually peak @ around 275-276 hp. I think thats what Stillen uses as a baseline. Still worth it in my book. With a 4hp gain it's around $20/hp compared to around $72/hp (18hp) for a Stillen CBE & $ around 30/hp for the Stillen Gen3 CAI (17hp).
I've seen Dyno runs with the G37 hitting 288hp so this whole post is most likely moot. Conditions need to be exact to have acurate comparisons. Even then, you have variations. Just goes to show how we should treat Dyno charts with a grain of salt.

^^ I agree. Dyno charting is far from an exact science in most conditions.
