If you want to know actual mileage, fill up the tank, drive, fill up tank, divide miles by gas=mileage. Don't use the gauge as your true numbers.
It sounds to me like the gauge was reset somewhere in the middle of a tank anyway. You'd have to work VERY hard to get mileage that low. |
