Do you have an OEM Nismo Exhaust?
 

Just installed an OEM Nismo Exhaust into my wife's 2010 Roadster. Before I even got out from underneath it I noticed the mounting rubber piece was stretched WAY more than the stock exhaust. I doubled checked everything and it was aligned, straight, and bolts tight. When I got out noticed that side is tight up against the bumper.

Is there a different size rubber piece for OEM Nismo exhaust compared to non-Nismo exhaust? Anybody who has installed an OEM Nismo have similar problem?

AK posted this up long ago. Last page states this: Make sure rubber mounts are not excessively stretched or twisted.

WOW..........i cannot believe this. I JUST installed my Nismo exhaust on Friday and am running into the EXACT same problem. The picture above is exactly how mine looks and my tips look identical to your picture as well. I literally loosened and tightened every nut and bolt 10 times in different sequence to see if that makes any difference. I also tried using a floor jack to manipulate the position of the muffler while i torqued everything down. No luck. I spent 6 hours on this project and just gave up and left it the way it is. I'm thinking of taking it to an exhaust shop to have it aligned. If anyone can chime in that'd be awesome. BTW, love the Nismo exhaust. Exactly what i was looking for. Someone please helppp!!!

I am calling the dealership tomorrow to see if the Nismo calls for a rubber piece in that spot.

i doubt it....ive seen plenty of Nismos installed without using any extra Nismo parts...

i just went to an exhaust shop and got it fixed. You need to detach that rubber hanger. The Nismo is set up a little differently and that bracket will not work. We took the hanger off and all was perfect. Super sturdy too.

Did they put anything in it's place?

nope. definitely not necessary. it's super sturdy and wouldnt even budge. I LOVE this exhaust!!!!!!!

I know this post is pretty old, but for anyone else looking to put an OEM NISMO on their non-NISMO Z, I contacted my dealership today and the part number for the Rear Insulator (rubber piece) is the same for a NISMO and non-NISMO.

The rubber hanger on the driver side IS different on the Nismo from other models.

Just bought an OEM NISMO exhaust and installed yesterday. Rubber hanger is not different. The difference in NISMO vs. Sport/Base is a metal piece that extends the rubber hanger down lower than on a Sport/Base. See pics.

First pic is the NISMO with the rubber hanger and the metal piece that bolts to the underside of the car.

Second pic is the exhaust from my sport with the same rubber hanger but no metal piece. The rubber hanger in this case bolts to the same place as the hole on the metal piece on the NISMO exhaust.

Next pic is mount for the rubber hanger (sport) or metal piece (NISMO). The upper of the 2 holes in this case is a place for a little piece of the metal mount from NISMO to stick through to make sure it is aligned properly. Then bottom hole is for the bolt.

Last is the the NISMO bolted on to the car.

I don't have the part number. It came with the exhaust I bought because it was not needed to mount the aftermarket one that the NISMO owner bought.

The rubber is the same. The Nismo has an extra extension mount on that left side hanger that drops it down (it's metal). I know because HKS made supplemental instuctions for Nismo owners for thier exhaust on my car showing to remove it. For a non-nismo you'll want to get that from the owner or buy one.

I have a PDF of the instructions from HKS but can't link it. If AK or someone wants to PM me I can email it so they can stick in here.

Here are some pics I took. It's been a while but I believe this is right. here you can see the standard mount (the first horizontal lip with half the nut showing on the upper part of the pic) Notice there is a second extension bracket bolted to it (second horizontal lip with nut). The second lower bracket is unique to the Nismo models:
