I have the resonator - sounds great, I have the silencer inserts but run with out them..

Throwing ART pipes back on shortly.

Keith, do you have the one with the resonator or the one with the removable silencers? I'm wondering how the resonator will change the sound. I like your overall set-up, same thing I'm planning on going with.

Thanks!!

I have the resonator Top Speed Exhaust + Top Speed Y Pipe + HFC. I am still trying to figure out what the resonator is doing. It sounds great most the time but from 3500 - 4000 rpms under WOT you can hear the tone change to high pitch. It has some rasp at WOT past 3500 rpm as well, not terrible but noticeable more so with the windows up. I am coming from an Invidia Gemini that had the X pipe which had no rasp. I am still breaking in the exhaust but I think the resonator is causing the high pitch rasp at WOT. I was inspecting the exhaust the other day and was curious if the Resonator was hollow, it is. I flicked it and it made a tinny 'bong' noise, wtf. I may have the resonator cut off and put a flange in so I can run my Z with a muffler delete for the track and cap it off for DD.

^^ ebay y-pipe + topspeed + Berks HFC here
I only hear the rasp when the car/exhaust is cold

I am thinking of getting a mock up mid pipe made up with a single HFC in it to test out.

Thanks guys!! I didn't realize the resonated one also includes the silencers so thanks for the clarification. I'm almost certainly going with this exhaust. Love the way it sounds.

I purchased mine straight from Top Speed and it does not have the silencers the tips are one solid piece. I thought you can either get the non Resonated with silencers or resonated without silencers. TOP SPEED AUTO ACCESSORIES, INC.

I did a quick video this morning before work to see how it sounds from the outside and it sounds amazing at partial throttle very throaty no rasp. I did a WOT fly by in 3rd and you can hear the tinny rasp in addition to the amazing throaty sound this exhaust makes. When in the car going WOT you can hear the rasp coming from the rear not the front like a HFC rasp. So it is either the Top Speed Y pipe design or the Resonator causing the rasp. I say this because Westwood has the same setup expect he is running the Magic JIC Y Pipe and does not have the resonator and his car sounds great.

My Video (Sorry for the quality)
00:30 (Partial Throttle 3000rpm)
01:20 (3rd gear 3000 - 5000rpm WOT)
02:12 (Reving to 2500, then 4000rpm)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkS_tY3fbUE

Compare to this Z, you can hear no rasp and more aggressive throaty exhaust note at high RPM!
370z 7AT Berk HFC, Magic JIC Y, Top Speed Non resonated, G3 Intake

I really think the resonator is causing more rasp, and it shouldn't cost much to have it cut off. I really should have gotten the Non Resonated version and saved some money in the process.

TB, Thanks for taking the time to shoot that video. I think your car sounds great! This really helps!

Thank you for watching it. I maybe being a bit picky about the WOT sound.

I'm going to re-install my M370 Motordyne Intake which gives the 370z a deeper intake growl. I had to take it off when the dealer replaced my short block under warranty. I know there have been mixed reviews but it gets a big thumbs up from me, I miss the extra tq it provides in the low and mid range rpms plus it sounds great!

Haha, that is probably going to be my next mod after the exhaust. I'm hoping the exhaust, M370, and HPS intake hoses + drop-in's will wake the car up some.

Well, my Top Speed exhaust was delivered yesterday. If this thing sounds as good as it looks, I'm going to be very happy. I ordered the non-resonated version. I'm going to try to install it this weekend along with an eBay y-pipe. I weighed the catback and it's coming in at around 28 lbs. Does anybody know how much the stock catback weighs?
