If you're lazy, you won't be installing or maintaining the G3s. lol

I'm going to hold of on an intake until Up rev and Cobb advance their tuning abilities. Otherwise I'll have to pay once for the AFR tune and again to take advantage of the upgraded abilities in the tune.

^ good man.

You can tune your stock airboxes and make power, I like these intakes, for me they are too expensive so personally not my choice. I do run short ram HF filters though.
90% of the gain from long tube CAI are not from the intake temp but from frigging the MAF into thinking it has the same amount of air when its actually more creating a leaner condition, coupled with a less turbulant air path.
Before I get internet boned , yes I understand IAT and HP ;-)

Yes, the Gen 3s will give you the most gains, but install/maintenance is a pain, no matter what anyone says. :)

have you done the install and maintenence yet? Install took 2 hours, changed my filters out yesterday... took all of 20 minutes, TOTAL pain in my ass:rolleyes:

Well you can typically just buy the K&N recharge kit if you have the patience to take your filters off and wait for them to dry, but I have zero patience, so I just went to autozone and bought two new filters, took the old ones off, tossed em, put the new ones back on, tightened them up and voila, good for another 5-8k. Bumper took me about 10 minutes to take off, 5 to install the new filters, and another 5 to put the bumper back on, I dont know why people are afraid to buy G3's because of this, it puzzles me. As far as mustangs go, thats a daily occurance, starting to get more from the Camaros lately, fun times.

Well good for you. Not everyone will want to remove their bumper/grille just to clean the filters.

How dirty were they? How long in between changes?

Umm...the filters only need to be cleaned/changed every 50,000 miles (clean at 50k & change at 100K), why are you changing them after 5-8k?

That's not really true....My experience (having sold 1000+ K&N based systems for Audi/VW cars), is to clean them about every 15-20K. Follow K&N's cleaning instructions and they'll come back just like new and last forever. You don't need to change them unless you damage them. Throwing away Re-useable filters is both wasteful, stupid and bad for the environment to say nothing of what it does to your wallet. I've brought K&N's back from the dead to look and perform like new..

Well that is what I am saying though, why throw away a good filter?
They are designed to be reused, I was just using the numbers I was given on the filters.

:iagree:...I agree on that....Just giving you some real world experience accumulated over Millions of miles on my airboxes. Anyone who wants to throw their K&N's away because they're dirty can send them to me. I'll pay the postage..! Tossing away $70-80 worth of re-useable filters is just dumb.
