Noob exhaust question
One of our commonly known vendors offers a Dual exhaust kit as well as a Cat-Back exhaust kit. What is the difference? Is the Dual exhaust kit considered a "Cat-Back" as well?
|
A true dual means that there are two separate pipes running all the way from the cats back to the end of your car.
A cat back means that the exhaust goes up to the cats. So they don't include cats or headers... |
Ok, i see....so this Dual exhaust kit, if i'm understanding correctly, goes from the headers all the way back to exhaust tips. Seems this kit also includes the cats if i'm looking at the pic correctly??
|
no, that's a dual-tip cat-back system. note that it's not a true-dual either, as it uses a Y-pipe configuration.
it does NOT include the cats. |
gah!! ok, so, does it go in this fitment order:
Header > Cats > Exhaust kit (Y kit or true dual or Cat-Back)?? Also, can't the Cat-Back kits also be true dual? Like the FI long tube kit for example? |

And yes, you can have two pipes going all the way from the cats to the end of your car. Which would make it a true dual cat back |
