Also, if it were just customer service and fitment, it still wouldn't be enough to persway this many people to purchase the exhaust if there wasn't at least a competitive amount gains. So, we know that the F.I. CBE has at least as much gains as its competitors. This puts everyone at the same level. Now, like an interviewer to its interviewees, which candidate stands out the most. Wouldn't the CS and fitment then come into play? I'm not going to mention the manufacturer names cause I don't want to bash or offend anyone, but one had fitment issues from the getgo. The midsection piping was hitting the cross-brase, which required some improvising. Another company also had fitment issues AND packaging issues. Parts arrive damaged OR the wrong parts were sent (two left mid-seciont pipes....or vise-versa). I understand that some of the issues have been address.....but again, during the process of elimination, what would you pick? Of course, you'd also have to like the look of the F.I. CBE. It's not for everyone, which I understand. I too would like to see a direct comparison between the CBE systems. Unfortunately, know one really knows what BERK puts down. All of the documented dyno runs have been with HFC included in the equation. Between F.I. and STILLEN, they're pretty close in terms of HP. I believe F.I. puts out an average of 1-3 extra HP, which isn't much...so you can say it's identical. I forget the TQ numbers.

Oh, and just to add to the record, I too was considering the BERK CBE. I was my first choice. It had great sound (subjective) and performance, much like it competitors. However, after waiting around (long time) for their R&D and outsourcing of parts to arrive, the breaking news (at the time) of all the problems people were having with their systems after they've received it, left a really sour taste in my mouth. It's hard to imagine cause they produce a really great HFC that the community loves. Anyway, that is when I decided to look else where. Process of elimination.
That's my story.

Numbers were as follows (Dyno Dynamics, 61F ambient temp): FI with Injen LT intakes 291HP Berk w/stock intakes 288.5HP Stock 274HP Seems to me the Berk and FI are putting out the same dyno numbers if you factor in +2.5HP for the Injens I appreciate that this is not the most scientific comparison, but it is what it is. Being able to have all three pulls on the same dyno within 45 minutes of each other with no real temperature change is a positive. One week later I pulled on a Mustang and the number was 294HP with the same setup. Mustangs and Dyno Dynamics both tend to run conservative numbers from what I've read here. I plan on another pull on the Mustang with Stillen G3 intakes installed sometime in the next 2 weeks.

You really think the Injens are only worth +2.5whp? That's kinda surprising to me that the gain would be so small on those.

As cars have different power levels coming from the factory, its hard to say what their base numbers were without the dyno of it, so the car with the intake could have dynoed less power when stock than Steves so the CAI might have done more for the first car than one might think by just the after dynos. Once Steve does his CAI that will help some but then its a completely different day and temps etc., but should still see. If the gains really are only 2.5 hp then just doing some drop ins would have probably netted the same results for much less money.

I'm a new 370Z owner, coming from an 07 and then an 09 Corvette Z06. I had a switch that controlled the exhaust butterflies in the stock exhaust - could run them open or closed. Of course, I ran them open 95% of the time and loved the sound. The Z stock exhaust sound....not so much.
Here is my question: I realize that sound quality will be different, but does anyone know what size resonator in the FI exhaust will best approximate the loudness (ie decibel level I guess), of the stock Z06 exhaust with the butterflies open? If no resonator, is the sound much louder? Am think seriously about this exhaust but not sure about the resonator size. Last edited by carbonguy; 04-25-2010 at 09:24 AM. |

I'm not saying anything one way or the other, just reporting the numbers. I'm not getting involved in any pi$$ing matches with the FI people or the Injen people even though we all know Stillen and Berk mods are superior.
