Default Stillen catback install question.

I had a question about the install of my stillen catback. As far as the instructions, it says to reuse the factory gasket between the cats and y-pipe, which I did. But the exhaust comes with 5 gaskets total. I'm left with 2 extra gaskets. What are they for?

Also, after driving, I'm noticing a bit of burble/popping (sounds like afterfire) between shifts which is making downshifts feel a bit jerky at times. Anyone else experiencing this?

Maybe they included those just in case your cat to y pipe gasket is toasted. I re-used cat to y pipe on mine and haven't noticed any leak. (i have AP exhaust)

Burble/popping seems to be normal on most of the exhaust systems. I remember there was a post in relation to the gargle sometime in the past but too lazy to search for it. but nonetheless, with increased piping diameter gargle is normal.

I also had another question. For some reason, my stillen y-pipe didnt have the studs present for the factory vibration dampeners ( the circular rubber things on the factory y-pipe). These are just there for vibration reduction, and shouldn't affect power correct? Josh at Stillen was very helpful and offered to send a replacement y pipe with the studs, but I'm not sure I wan't to bother uninstalling and possibly needing new gaskets. Anyone else running their stillen catback without the dampeners? I know that none of the other catbacks come with provisions for them, so they can't be too important.

After about 1000 to 1200 miles on your new exhaust it will sound even better and have more of an exotic car sound. It just takes a bit for mufflers to break in. I highly recommend the matching Stillen HFC's. At first Ithought they were too loud but they have mellowed out and deepend the exhaust note. I noticed much improvement in throttle response and more power at the top end. My engine will rev up another 700 rpm before going flat.

you dont need the dampers, however you will definitely notice the vibration noise the more you drive, particularly at startup.
