intake question and introduction.
Hi,
I have been lurking on these forums for quite some time now, and have joined quite a bit ago but never got to making my first post, but here it is! I have had my Z, for 8 months and am very happy with the car its amazing and still puts a smile on my face when i see, and especially when driving it. I have never modified a car and thus this a new a experience for me and Im excited, reading over the forums i decided to order a fast intentions exhaust, which I have done, and cant wait to install this. I also read the thread covering the fact that adding a lot of bolt ons will lean out the A/F ratio and that this requires a tune. for this summer I plan on doing the exhaust, and maybe an intake, LTH will wait for a winter project and after that a tune will be needed as discussed in the thread. Now my question is, will the CBE from fast intentions and an intake from either stillen or Injen make the A/F to lean or can I install this without a problem? thanks in advance, |

from what I heard the car will only start to get too lean if you do intake+CBE+LTH/HFC/test pipes

Each mode will lean the car out some but not too much till you have all bolt ons. The leaning out will help you gain some power but once you have the CAI, HFC, CBE you will need atune to get you out of being too lean and back to proper settings. CAI and CBE will lean you out a bit but not enough to worry about it.

I guess that according to many dyno reports, the car runs rather rich in stock form.

thanks for the speedy replies,
so been doing some more research, tony says the wouldn't do CAI and just do drop in air filters, will I see a large gain if i do just the filters? I want my mods to be functional and I like the idea of installing it myself so thats why i'm leaning towards the CAI because it seems fun to install and gains have been proven. why do some people feel that it is not a useful mod though? are the gains minimal if one frees up restriction by adding a cbe? |

Just CBE and intake... you'll be fine... also take a look at the R2c intakes too. Best now to consider every option at this point!

Welcome!
