Congrats to ZSteve, demon bolt removed!
Waiting for your review Steve!

Well That thing was a B!tch, They had to cut the one demon bolt off and the other top bolt broke off too. But now they are on and here is my quick review:
At startup, it didnt sound like anything had changed, just the nice deep growl I got from the CBE, which is good, I dont want it too loud. I have the 12 inch resonators so Im gonna be a little louder than most. Normal driving you can hear it is a little louder than with just the CBE, but not too loud as to be too annoying (spelling?). It does open up some when just driving regular but still resonable. WOT, the damn thing screams and I can hear the Hiss (what everyone calls it). You know your on the gas at WOT and people will notice it. I like it as as WOT Im wanting whoever is by me to know it. Havent really been able to tell yet if my butt feels any difference, maybe some better throttle response. Since I already had the CBE I wasnt really expecting much of a gain as like FI show its only a few HP. But since I had already paid for them, THEY were going on and I didnt car if the bolts agreed or not. When in Park and I step on the gas and gun it a bit, man you can hear the volume in the exhaust and so will the neigbors. Now I have my VDC and wheels slip lights on, tried disconnecting the battery a few times, even took it back to the shop for them too look at, couldnt get them to go out. Used the Cobb to reset, they come right back. So the shop is taking the car to another shop that has a professional diagnostic device like the dealerships have and they will reset the "steering angle sensor" and see if that works. From what I found on line its the SAS that has to be reset any time its messed with and I guess he took it off when he did the work. If that doesnt work then they will buy a new sensor for me. I will see if I can get Alex (red370) to use my camera and get a vid/audio of the exhaust note now, as I owe it to ERZ too. Hope to have it up in a couple of days. Edit: fitment: Fitment was perfect, they bolted right in, no adjustments needed. |
Man I cant wait to hear this thing, lemme know when you want me to take the vids, I know of a few places that go from 25 to 60mph so we can get some good launch video and fly bys.

Vids yes.

I have to say congrats to ERZ for providing a product at a very reasonable price that looks good, fits good, and hopfully last a long time too. Its a very good price for some HFCs. Im going to dinner so I hope I can find someone to "PASS" along the way. |
Nice! Looking forward to pics/vids/whatever! I just ordered a set of ERZ HFCs for my G37 sedan today. I better stop reading these threads or else I won't get any sleep for a week! :D

Yep, the ERZs have been good to me too so far. Since the weather got nicer, I've had the windows down and the hiss annoys me at times. I don't blame the ERZs...it's the engine. My last track day this past weekend, people were complimenting the exhaust tone left and right.

Any rasp? My ERZ HFC's have gotten really raspy with the stock CBE. I'm hoping an aftermarket CBE will eliminate most of it.

OK big question, like I said I am getting a steering angle sensor light now, the VDC and wheel slip lights. Now my airbag lights are coming on and when I come to a slow stop I can hear a noise that wasnt there before. A squeak kinda I guess. So what does the SAS do and is this a major thing? Im going to get it reset but after looking online some Im not sure if just a rest with the diag tool is enough or if they have to actually adjust the SAS unit back to 0 too. I have to find out what exactly the guy did with the SAS. By they way the car has picked up some juice and of course some sound. |

It'd be interesting for the guys with some real mileage on these cats to pull them out and take a look inside to see how the honeycomb is holding up. I know it'd be a PITA but it'd be interesting to compare the longevity of the ERZs vs the FIs, Berks, and Stillens of the world.

The sensor needs to be recalibrated back to center (page BRC-8 of the service manual). This requires a Consult-III.
If you disconnect the battery before disconnecting any harnesses you are usually ok, however the car gets cranky if things are disconnected while it still has power. |
