F.I. HFC resonated cat pipes
1 Attachment(s)
So has anyone tested this system out? Seems like the perfect solution to more power and less noise. Matched up to a good CBE, this would be awesome for us non-tracking/racing members....
any thoughts? Fast Intentions |
If you have no worries about emissions, sure. But the test pipes are only good for maybe 2-3 hp over HFCs...
|
We don't have emissions tests here.... and I think the HP would still be the same or close as the standard HFC would it not?
.... and why aren't you installing spacers right now? ;) |

I've installed a set of Fast Intentions, Stillen, and a set of Berks on my cars. My best advice is to pick the HFC with the manufacturer of the exhaust you pick. It always seems to fit better and without any problems. Not that cross selection won't fit, but there always seems to be small differences between the manufacturers that require some form of adjustments.
That being said, I will have a set of Berk 200 metallic with extra bungs for sale in April. Just for your info. |
What are you switching to? And why??
Having said that, PM a price! I am also interested in your opinion of the F.I. CBE. I think 6MT mentioned you had that system on your Z. Quote:

They are high flow cats and resonated pipes all in one. We are the only ones in the world that offer them! |
Dont test pipes replace the cats? I would think of them more as resontaed HFCs. I think they are a good product for helping keep the sound down some and still get the gains. I wanted them but they were a little pricy for me but they look just as well made as their CBE.

test pipes are a pipe that deletes the cat in the care, releasing restrictive flow, test pipes are a lot louder and more raspy. HFC allow you to pass emissions, yet are also less restrictive then factory cats, yielding higher HP then factory, and a little louder sound. You are able to get resonated test pipes though, for those who don't want as raspy sound but are able to run test pipes.

They are resonated HFC, you are correct. |
Hey tony I heard the TDX with HFC's and I totally want HFC's now. I did not know you guys made resonated HFC's though. What are the gains on them versus the regular HFC's? Give me a call, I'm very interested in these!

I like the idea of reduced obstruction/greater flow but with some noise reduction too. I would like to add these into a CBE exhaust but not at the expense of noise. |
"Noise" is personally subjective. If the restriction (OEM catalytic converters) is removed lower frequency noise will be generated. The resonated sections help reduce noise in some of the frequency bands but lower frequency sound will still be heard.

I LOVE low frequency... hate rasp!
