Default SES code P0171

I posted over in the engine tech area but i figured i would put my findings over here in the Intake/Exhaust area.

I threw a CEL/SES (service engine soon) last weekend. My idle was hanging at 1.1k and would not go below. I took it to my mechanic today and had him run the code, which came out to be a P0171, which he said was a lean code. We looked at my gen 3s and couldn't visually see any areas suspect for vacuum leaks. We decided to just reset, and address the issue again if/when the CEL comes back on.

If anyone has had an issue with this code i would appreciate hearing about how you fixed the situation.

If anyone wants to hear what it sounds like here is the link to my youtube video, off topic but oh well! I still need to post my install pics and thoughts on the setup.

I had a different code (PO300 error (cylinder misfire)), but the issue was the same. My idle wouldn't drop below 1.2k.

If you just installed the intake, I'd say give it a couple of days to give the ECU time to adjust to the increased airflow.
If it's been more than a couple of days already, then I'd say re-check the hoses and clamps again. There has to be a leak somewhere, even if you cant see it. Try running the engine and spraying soapy water around the hoses, it'll show you if something isn't air tight.

Check for exhaust leaks around the cats too. Also make sure every hose is tightened properly again on the intakes and that the sensors are in firmly. I had a CEL for ages different code but also a Lean condition and ended up being an exhaust leak in the gaskets between the berk cats and the headers. (they were makeshift gaskets so ended up using the berk gaskets)

Nitex -

Just sent you a pm that reads:

Are you still throwing the P0171 code? I've ordered the Stillen G3 and CBE but now I'm on the fence about the Berk HFCs. I like the sound and power of your Z but I don't want to run lean or flash the ECU at this time as the car is brand new.

I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Bruce

That high idle along with engine light happened to my car the following day after my tune. I did a pedal reset and it went away and hasnt come back since. Been about 3 weeks, however since the tune i feel like i throw the cel from the test pipes.. def annoying

however I am getting to be a pro with the ecu pedal reset sequence.
