I had to ask for it. My tuner was reluctant, but I insisted I wanted them so he built and loaded them. All your guy has to do is build one map with the rev limited to, say, 3k rpm. That's the valet map. Then another rev limited to 1k rpm; that's the anti-theft map. Tell him you want them; you're the customer.

I just read page 1, but from what I have seen, either do a CBE, headers/HFC's, or intake, and you have gotten 95% of the performance that is available without more extensive modding.
The highest hp NA 370Z I have seen on here was @330whp with an impeccable tune that is 93* compatible only. Almost ALL the 370Z's I have seen with just one of these mods is around 300whp on a stock tune. Throw a 93* tune on it and it would be 305whp or so. So for another 10whp...you do another $2500 worth of work. I'm sorry, but coming from the LSX world, that's just a joke unless you are doing it for the sound or to stay within some sort of "class" in a competitive environment or just because you want to out of some internal reasoning of yours (Hey, everyone has their "thing"). I just feel that if you are doing all that, you might have picked the wrong car is all. Feel free to flame away, but my planned mods are Berk CBE, Tint, Radar detector, and I'm toying with the idea of a full wrap. Last edited by ImportConvert; 01-04-2012 at 03:25 AM. |

No it's not, the one that is accurate is the one that accurately predicts trap-speed in the 1/4 mile.
Just my opinion, but I'll state it as fact because I feel strongly on the matter. heart-breaker dynos and generous dynos lie alike. Just different lies. That is not to say both dynos are not CONSISTENT, however, I have yet to see a dyno make a 1/4 mile pass, and the day one beats me on the street, I will shat my pants. They are tuning tools only. |

It would be nice to compile a list of mods and get numbers on what does and does not require a tune. I will start a list so if anyone can provide data it would be helpful.
1. CAI - ie stillen etc with stock exhaust/headers/cats 2. CAI + CBE 3. CAI + HFC + CBE 3.5 K&N Drop-Ins + HFC + CBE (Tune needed? Any dyno A/F numbers?) 4. CAI + Headers + HFC + CBE (according to this thread a tune is needed) 5. CAI + Headers + CBE I am looking at a combination of K&N Drop ins with HFC + CBE and I do not know 100% whether or not I need a tune so once I install the HFCs I will get the dyno done and post up the A/F numbers. I am not 100% sure when I'll order the HFC, I am thinking March/April timeframe but if anyone can provide data for any of the above I'm sure it will be very helpful. The dyno numbers would be nice but what I think is most important are the A/F numbers. Better to get those sorted out before tuning for power.

I have HPS post maf tubes + LTH + Y-pipe and didnt need a tune. By that iI mean i did not gain much power after the tune.
