Ark Technologies Type 2 Exhaust installed!
This morning I picked up my exhaust from Fed-Ex. I placed the order last Friday and the exhaust came in yesterday however, I had to pick it up since I was not home for the delivery.
First, I want to say hats off to Eric from the forum (drivelineeric) for being very responsive and following up. I would deal with Eric again and recommend him to anyone looking for this exhaust or other parts he sells. Shipping was fast and the exhaust blew away my expectations. The install was EASY, I installed it myself using just floor jacks and it took me 30 minutes to install the exhaust. The stock exhaust took me about 45 minutes to remove mostly because of limited space/movement. When I started the car my mouth hit the floor, the sound clips and everyone's description do not do this exhaust proper justice. The closest thing I can compare the sound is to a single turbo Supra, my Z now sounds just like my former Supra and that is a good thing. (of course minus the turbo/wastegate sounds) The exhaust tone itself is almost identical to what my Supra used to sound like with the Fujitsobo ?sp exhaust Initial drive suggests that the car does run a bit smoother. I am giving the car about a day or so to allow the ECU to adjust. I opened the car up once and the sound was beautiful. This exhaust does what many fail to do, it is quiet when you want it to be and loud (deep/exotic) when you want it to be. It is not raspy at all and the tone is great. I have to say that I did not expect the exhaust to sound as good as it does right out of the box. I figure a week or two and it will sound that much better since the packing will burn in a little. Overall, the buying experience/quality of product/sound/performance are all beyond what I expected. I will get some pictures up in a bit, I wanted to write up a quick post. If you are thinking about getting an exhaust, good luck if you can find something better than this one. Between the quality, sound, and performance I think this exhaust is tough to beat. I've heard a few other exhausts, HKS and Stillen and this one blows them away. Stay tuned for the pics...

I agree about the alignment. In the last picture, it looks like the right tip needs to be more centered. Looks to be touching the bumper. I know I wouldnt want my brand new exhaust eating away at my pearly white bumper. Other than that looks great! Congrats!

Picture looks like it's touchting but it's not (I would highly recommend NOT driving with exhaust touching body parts), I checked that, it is slightly off as far as alignment. I will mess with it over the weekend and see if I can align it.
Either way, car drives smoother and I am now noticing more response. I haven't gotten a chance to really open her up yet but I'm sure there's a decent amount of HP gained from this exhaust. Tony I bet! I figure a week or so and the packing will burn in a bit and sound even better. Needless to say, so far I am very happy with it.

I really like the design and sound of this exhaust (X pipe + Dual canister + Deadner chamber) but these misaligned installed pictures are putting me off from purchasing this in a heart beat!!! .. it's pissing me off. It's not just the tip itself but the canister. In every installed pictures, it looks like passenger side canister is always sitting lower than that of driver's side..
Can SOMEBODY post pictures of it and show me that it is possible to align them on exact/near exact height left and right? Symmetry is beautiful. GAH....!!!!!!! |

I think it's something with the exhaust design however, it doesn't stand out as much as you'd think. I will mess with it this weekend, I think a shorter hanger will do the trick. If I figure it out I'll post up the exact solution, my guess is that this will be an easy fix by either replacing the rubber holder with a shorter one or angling the hanger (the one that bolts to the car) further to the right) I mainly wanted to get it installed today so I still have to go back through and check over everything. The exhaust sounds so good and the car must be adjusting the ECU because it is driving a bit smoother and does feel a bit faster. Not sure what to tell you but I am very happy with it but, I'm not into cosmetics as much as I am into actual performance so to each their own. The alignment should be an easy fix...again I'll post up what I figure out.

I agree. The alignment is an easy fix if you can have that extra set of eyes and hands. I had it on the lift yesterday just to tighten up any loose bolts and what not and I'm happy where the exhaust currently sits.

TonyBPD, could you be able to post picture of aligned exhaust?
I msged DriveLineEric today about purchasing it but after doing a 'sober second thought' I pulled out once again.. For some reason I can't get over having 'imperfection' to my eye on something I love. Thanks again, and sorry for being pain in the arse. |

This morning was pure bliss...I am amazed at how nice the car sounds. Literally, sounds exactly how my Supra used to sound...love it! Car did feel a bit stronger this morning as well so I'm hoping at some point we see dyno sheets because I am curious on the gain. Anyone know of any actual numbers with this (as far as cat back vs hfc) I do not plan on going the hfc route.
