I'm thinking about installing the Fast Intentions Syst. Probably with the 12" resonators. Anybody have any thoughts on the benefits of wrapping the pipes with 2" high temp. header wrap?

fast intentions exhaust questions
I'm thinking about installing the Fast Intentions Syst. Probably with the 12" resonators. Anybody have any thoughts on the benefits of wrapping the pipes with 2" high temp. header wrap? Especially directly under the cabin area. I've noticed the stock syst. has a metal shield around the pipes for the purpose of heat insulation. Also, would there be any difference in the noise level inside the cabin if the resonators were deleted, and only the silencers out back with stock cats.

By relieving back pressure you will reduce friction and heat. Our system will run cooler than the stock. At no point is our system in close proximity to cooking anything other component on your car. The wrap is overkill and you do not need it with our cat back exhaust system. Do not under any circumstances wrap a resonator. You will trap the heat inside of it and cook the packing right out! Header wrap is intended for headers. I would only use it as a last resort. It is primarily effective in turbocharged applications because it traps a majority of the heat in the header. The turbos feed off of heat and you will make more power. The flip side is, it traps moisture between the wrap and the header and after time it will make the tubing brittle...
If you are interested in an exhaust, please do not hesitate to contact me directly... Thank you, Tony

Heat wrap
Thanks Guys, I appreciate your input! Also plan to install low restriction intakes. I'll probably go with the shorties, won't they be better for the lower R.P.M. range? I would think the long tube intakes require higher R.P.M.s, you know, intake air inertia and stuff like that.

Also, the heat shielding on the Z, in many places, is just them covering themselves. Think of it as liability insurance, if something does go wrong they are covered, but aftermarket systems run cooler and more efficient.

K&N filters are good for 50,000 miles before a recharge is needed and then another 50,000 when you replace them or recharge them again. Recharge is cleaning/re-oiling them. Also, bumper removal is around 10-15 minutes after the first time and you learn where all the clips & bolts are. We have taken mine off twice now and it is extremely easy, hardest part is getting the bolt in the wheel well area but that is a breeze now since we know where to look.

Well, doesn't seem as difficult as I'd imagined. Things are looking better, I'm sure I'll be pleased with the results, both performance and sound. Is it my imagination, or does the 350z and G35 ('08 and earlier) actually sound better?

Exhaust sound?
Maybe, stock sound I like some of the earlier 350/G35 sounds but aftermarket I was not to thrilled about (from what I have heard myself in person).

I e-mailed Scuderia and asked if anything is available for the Z using "TUBI" exhaust systems. Nothing in the works as yet, but they'll let me know. If you want to hear something that will make your hair stand on end U Tube - TUBI Exhaust Systems Ferrari/Lamborghini Exhaust Sounds. So far, Fast Intentions is the closest for that exotic tone, in my opinion. The GTM exhaust , twin turbo 370Z dyno test as well. Gotta go ,catch up with you Wed..Bobz

you guys recommend taking off the little black plastic on the front bumper near the fangs? Modshack cut a hole in the plastic and connect it with a tube to feed air to intake. i am thinking of just taking off the plastic but no tubes for more air for the stillen g3.
