Aftermarket Exhaust Installed & Service Engine Light Came on

Putting some poison in the inside lip of the rims or under the car is a good idea. The wife and I carpool to work most days, so my Z ends up sitting in the driveway for a couple days at a time...

My truck has a bit of a cavity in the V between the cylinder heads, I'm always finding nut shells and fuzz left behind by critters. They haven't eaten anything AFAIK, but then again it is running like crap so maybe they did, LOL.

I have to say I think this is a poor design. I realize that you can't stop critters from eating what they want to eat, but these wires are only about a foot from the ground and are subject to being hit by road debris and the elements. A cheap plastic shroud could easily solve most of these issues.

The split is very close to the sensor. Not much to work with. I thought about that, but I don't think it's a possibility.

Give it a shot. What do you have to lose at this point? Even if you have enough to splice or twist and use electrical tape it will save you a few hundred dollars for now, maybe years.

The rear sensor is very easy to replace (or remove for repair). Rent the O2 removal tool from Autozone or parts shop (usually free with deposit), run engine to warm up exhaust, shut off engine and spray liberally with PB Blaster and allow to cool to touch. Disconnect plug end of sensor and unscrew with rented tool. You don't have to use the tool but it does make things easier.

The tool is entirely optional. At the base of each sensor you will see a typical hex nut in 7/8" size, and you can use a large 7/8" wrench to do the removal. The O2 sensor simply screws into a threaded socket on the pipe.

If I install it myself, how will I clear the code? According to the dealership (not that they are the authority on anything), you simply can't disconnect the battery to clear the code out.

You can borrow a code reader from a friend, or disconnect the battery for 5 minutes (step on the brake to drain any residual power).

Take it to Auto Zone they can read it and clear it for you,, then by the Cobb AP. Im gonna ask for some kick backs from those guys.

Auto Zone will read a code, but won't clear one for you. I plan to buy a Cobb eventually, but that won't be until my warranty runs out. For now all I want to do is clear this code, and spending $300+ for a cobb isn't the route I want to take. :-)
