Hydro shields
Hey guys just wanted to know your opinions on Injens Hydro Shields??
Any experience with them?... Problems? And over all views about this as i am getting the Injen CAI system and was wondering if i should maybe invest in a set for extra care wen driving through a puddle or something????... http://cache.autoanything.com/images...njen_hydro.jpg Quote:

I have been in pretty deep puddles in our last rain storms that rolled through here! I didn't have any water related issues while driving, if you're driving it around in deep water I would be concerned because if you did the filter covers wouldn't be stopping water from being sucked in. drive with some common sense and you'll be fine. I wouldn't waste my money on this covers...IMHO

Yeah its not like i purposely drive through the puddles but if i do i think it would put a bit more of my mind at ease.... even though our rain season is nearly over and winter is coming!! whoop whoop!! we have problems with highways flooding due to all the road works for fifa 2010...

You certainly wouldn't want to go through all the cost and trouble of installing a free flow filter, and then covering it up with some kind of "sock."

dont get the injens, if you're worried about hydro lock, get the G3's and two of these, being that the injens are a one piece tube, you cant use these..

Oh well im sure ill be fine !!! |
The hydro shield is unnecessary. The filters on the Injen CAI are protected by the dividers that separate the front bumper cavity into three sections, so you don't have to worry about any spray at all.
Hydro lock shouldn't even be a concern unless you plan on driving through a lot of deep water, but I doubt you do. |
A somewhat deep puddle just killed mine two days ago.

Was your engine damaged? |
My city is one of the worst I have ever seen when it rains. So many of the roads flood, I had a friend total his eclipse this way, my sister totalled her car as well.
I doubt this will protect my car, since the water gets so deep it imobilizes you. |

just for my own notes, where does the stock intake pull air from? I had a car that pulled air in through the wheel well and it got hydro locked :x
