PPE Engineering Long tube race headers 23whp 19tq on Nismo 370z - stock exhaust

I just came across these new headerz.

PPE Engineering Long tube race headers w/ true merge collectors & true equal length primaries

23whp 19tq on Nismo 370z - stock nismo exhaust

*sounds like a low quality sound clip

I think these will go well with the new Injen Nismo tuned intakes. I'm going to order me a set in a few weeks. They claim +13whp on the nismo

looks sweet!

Daishi 02-13-2010 10:54 AM

meh doesnt look like good quality.. Fast Intentions FTW

vortrex 02-13-2010 11:41 AM

I would stay away from that garbage. they made a header for the lotus community a few years ago and it was a failure. they jumped on the forum making all these bold claims of huge gains (before they even welded one header!) and in the end was not able to produce those numbers. the quality looked crappy back then too.

yea looks crappy. it has more bends than the stock exhaust lol.

And why would it be for Nismo only? The stock parts are the same, why would after-market pieces be different. What kind of company goes after a niche like that, and limits themselves from the bulk of production?

Because the Nismo has a special tune and needs special parts.

CBRich 02-14-2010 11:44 AM

Pretty sure the Injen intakes are listed Nismo only, not the headers.

370z370z 02-14-2010 06:33 PM

that picture is of their prototype header before it was fully tig welded & coated... its a true equal length header, stepped primaries, true merge collector, and dyno'd on 91 octane +23 whp on the Nismo using sae corrections while using the stock Nismo h-pipe exhaust. the car is from outperformance shop in tx. They've got another nismo 370z doing the headers, intakes & other mods next month.

they've also got the Injen intakes (+13whp), eneos 0w50 (+10whp), ppe headers (+23whp), and an exhaust on the way.

I'm hearing that they're getting exhaust cams pretty soon and a ecu.

Found some of their videos on vimeo. http://vimeo.com/8566779

I'll post a dyno of my stuff when I get it installed.

I'm going to wait on some independant results before I believe those numbers..oil +10whp ? Injen intakes haven't been putting up those numbers before either. It would be sweet if I stuck those headers on my car and made an extra 23whp but I don't see that happening. If it is true then I'll be buying them probably :icon18:

pm me your email address and I'll email you their eneos oil dyno. it was done at technosquare

Yeah i have the headers on my car. I haven't taken the car to the dyno yet but will post results when i do. Here are some pics from my cell phone cam. The car is suprisingly quiet at idle and normal driving until you get on it.

Jordo! 06-17-2010 01:20 PM

PPE also made headers for the Celica GT-S and it made decent gains -- highest of any ever made for the 2ZZ motor in fact. I wouldn't dismiss them out of hand.

My only recommendation would be to make sure the flanges are even or replace them with v-band clamps, although, I'd make the same recommendaion for any header...

Get a baseline dyno first before you install them!

StealthZ 06-17-2010 07:46 PM

I talked to them about somethings and ran into this product when they were prototyping it. looks and sounds good. I didn't have the extra coin to pick up any headers yet, because if I did one of the two would have been installed a while ago.
Staying tuned for results.

LuSt4Boost 07-12-2010 02:37 PM

updates?...

cbutler 07-12-2010 09:29 PM

With the PPE Headers I got an additional 18hp.

G37Sam 07-13-2010 08:41 AM

Over what? Stock cats and headers?

Dyno sheets?

Yeah -- and did you change anything else besides the headers at the same time?

wishihadnav 07-13-2010 01:43 PM

interesting..i wonder how these would sound with a Meisterschaft exhaust..hahah!

That was my same reaction, you definitely don't get any power gains by running different oil. I'm running Motul Power Racing 5w30, hands down the best and most expensive oil I've ever come across. It's very smooth and along with the oil cooler keeps the temp below 215 at all times, but it definitely didn't give me noticeable whp hahahaha.

Seriously... if you're lucky, 2-3 whp with a really slippery synthetic.

Although I did pick up 6-8 whp using Polydyn in my old S/C'd 2ZZ...

(No, I am NOT recommending anyone experiment with any oil additives in their nice new VQ37 motor.)
