whats the purpose/benefit of having the mufflers side by side verses just having them go straight out? just curious on the advantages/disadvantages. i like the straight out concept but prefer

whats the purpose/benefit of having the mufflers side by side verses just having them go straight out?
just curious on the advantages/disadvantages. i like the straight out concept but prefer h/x pipe. EDIT:Thank You Mods
