On the Stillen, the diameter of the single portion of the Y is greater than the diameter of each of the inserting pipes. In terms of area, a single 3" pipe has more cross-sectional area than two 2" pipes. So flow is better with the single 3" pipe. With the Stillen design, the only factor that could potentially 'hurt' your power would be turbulence going from 2 pipes to 1 pipe and then back to 2 pipes. Hard to really quantify that effect though.
