Headers?
i have FI CBE and HFC and want to know what headers would anyone recommend?
|
The dollar/horsepower ratio is really bad for short headers. OEM is rather well-designed. There's a reason most firms don't build aftermarket short headers - there's no demand. You could buy long-tube headers from Fast Intentions. The "long" part of the tube replaces your HFCs. But those will still add negligible gains and cost 18% of a twin-turbo kit. If you're serious about gains you're better off saving the money and going F.I.

ISR longtube header, sell your HFC it’ll pay for most of the cost.
I have ISR header and despite the cheap price it still appears to be great quality. Others have shared the same sentiments. |
I got the FI lth's. If you do the install yourself. The right side will take about 1 hour. The left side will take 6+ hours depending on your skill set. And lots of cussing and your hands will look like you got in a fight with a pissed off alley cat.

ISR headers for budget, PPE headers for the best performance.
Z1 headers are also similar in performance and sound to the PPE headers as they're equal length. FI LTHs are junk IMO, unequal length and not the best for performance. I have them currently on my car after swapping out the Z1 headers I had. Car lost power and started sounding like **** with the FI headers. Swapping to PPE headers next week. |

I made 334HP and 279 torque with FI lth's. I rank the PPE and the FI the same. Followed by the Z1 shorty's and the ISR together. |
ISR make shorties and longtube.
The longtube will have better performance than any shorty+test pipe combo, and pretty much on par with any other LTH. Despite the cost, it has pretty good quality and fitment. Everyone who owns one including myself will attest to this, it is a phenomenal header and for the price it’s a great buy. |

I personally haven't seen any QC issues from the ones I've installed from PPE. They're both equally good in the quality department but the PPE is leagues ahead at power since it's actually equal length. You can tell the difference from the sound alone. Lost ~10whp going from Z1 headers to FI and the car sounds horrible now. Got a set of PPE headers ready to go on, I'll report back once I install it with dyno numbers. |
