HFC back in stock
|
Hey guys, I just got my ERZ HFCs installed this morning. The exhaust note sounds good but there's a rattle. Sounds like it's coming from the front near the exhaust manifold. You can hear it when you're outside the car or with the window open. It's not as noticeable when the windows are closed. All the flanges fit fine and bolts are tightened properly. Bluestyle, is that what you describe as hiss and rasp? I would describe what I hear as a rattle. It's getting annoying. Anyone else notice this?

Did you install this your self or did a shop do it? Do you have a CBE or is it still stock? |

I have a rattle as well after installing my HFC. Seems like it's coming from the HFC when I hit 3K but thought it was normal.

Which HFC do you have? My rattle is there throughout the whole RPM range.

Could you get a sound clip so I could hear it?

Upon deceleration of the 370z, with hi-flow cats, the car makes (around 1.5-2k) a very quiet hissing sound. Mine do it but its very slight and I can only hear it when the windows are down and when I am going from 15mph down to 5mph. What is weird is that your sound is similar but WAY louder (like 60db). I really wonder if there is something wrong with the comb in the cat. I would get some more imput from other members. Why don't you create another thread with a catchy title and see if you can get more people to comment. I fear to say though that you may have to contact ERZ and get them to send you another set :( They have really good customer support so I would give that a shot. Did you have the exhaust on before the ERZ's were installed? Oh and btw...you need to get a Cobb AP and contact Altered Atmosphere to get a tune. They might be able to give you my tuned map since you have the same setup. The tune is freekn unbelievable. Have you seen my thread on the tuning section - http://www.the370z.com/tuning/15435-...ome-gains.html |
Thanks for listening to the clip and expressing your thoughts, Bluestyle. I crawled underneath tonite to see if I could find something, and I did...the problem is simple...the caps to the secondary O2 bungs (at least I think that's what they're called) were loose. The left one was half unscrewed and both were easily screwed in/out by hand. The technician obviously didn't pay attention to make sure everything was secured. Tightened those and went for a test drive, and man does the exhaust sound sweet!!!! And, of course, no more rattle!
Yes, I had the Invidia exhaust installed before. Ran it for about 600 km before the HFC install. I definitely want to get my ECU tuned...likely Cobb AP. That would be cool to get the same map as yours, since we have the same equipment. I read your other thread and 25-30 HP and lb-ft gain after the tune is crazy awesome, man! I wonder if I should get an e-tune from them or even a dyno tune somewhere to get the most gains (as each car could be slightly different, we live in different climates/altitudes, and buy different gas)??? Also, thanks to Nissangeneration of ERZ (forum sponsor) for suggesting that I should check the O2 caps. If anyone else is interested in a set of ERZ HFCs, definitely fire him a PM. BTW, 250 km so far and no CELs. |

Oh sweet...I guess I just assumed that making sure the O2 sensors were tight would have been something they would have done. (Wish there was a 'slap upside the head' icon that I could direct toward your mechanic)
So glad you didn’t have bad cats though. That would have sucked to have had to rip them off and re-install. Yea, your right about the tune…you do have different altitude and gas. You’re probably better off going to Cobb directly based on where you live in Canada. Looks like you are half way across the world from Altered Atmosphere : ( |
this exhaust fits on my 09 nismo?

your setup sounds awesome man!!! im gonna be brave and bite the bullet on getting the ERZ resonated testpipes to mate up with my agency power exhaust. so ill have a video of the setup as soon as i get the testpipes in. i just hope that its not crazy loud or raspy,....but eh, what can i say im kind of asking for it purchasing testpipes :icon17:

After seeing your video and the price tag associated with this setup I am EXTREMELY close to pulling the trigger on this setup soon. Saving money with these results are enticing!
