Default Muffler Hanger bolts don’t fit - correct Part#

So to spare you the details, I’ll get right to it.

I purchased the 6 bolts that mount the L/R side rear muffler hangers (installed a couple axle back mufflers, and need the hangers to hold them up). I used the correct part number, and the parts guy at Nissan confirmed it. They don’t fit, not even close. The bolts screw in about 1 turn, and they are completely tight. I mean snap the bolt off if you keep tightening kind of tight. It’s a relatively long bolt.

I’ve mixed matched each of the 6 bolts/holes to confirm. What am I missing? It’s the same PN for the 350Z, and the G35. I’ve spent hours searching for an alternate PN, to no avail. I’m mechanically savvy enough to confirm a bolt does not fit. Amy help, or alternate bolts/sizes, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

How long are the bolts you have?

Only screwing in 1 turn doesn't sound correct regardless of length tho. It's possible the part number is wrong on the dealer website (wouldn't be the first time). Quick search indicates that part number is a bolt for the water pump, but that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't used elsewhere also.

Default Update

Thanks for the responses, and info guys.

So I went to Ace Hardware, to see if I could find something comparable, and nothing fit. I had a cranky old guy helping me that knew his stuff, and he couldn’t figure out why it didn’t fit any of the nuts, or screw holes they have for sizing reference. He was stumped as well.

Looks like my only recourse is to take it to the dealership, and make a deal with them. I will ask them to jack the car up, and attempt to install the bolts. If they are able to install them without issue, I’ll pay the bill, and accept that I’m a total numbnut (that is a possibility). If they are unable, then I’m not paying anything, and they should figure it out for free. It’s not my fault the correct bolts don’t fit, so they’re going to take care of it on their dime.

I’m glad I purchased the bolts through the dealership. I’ll let you know what happens.
