Default Time for an emissions test, what cats for TT?

My 370Z TT, inevitably got the defect notice from the police the other day. I am in Australia, so now I must do an emissions test to be able to drive my Z on the road again.

Atm my Z has the AAM Comp Stage 1 TT system with the AAM 3" downpipes that came with the kit, FI 3" TT CBE, and the CJM S1.SE Fuel system running straight e85.

I have searched the forum and can't find if anyone here also has TT setup and had to do an emissions test in the past, and passed it? What cats did they use for it, can't seem to find a general consensus on what cats can survive a TT setup and are good.

However, my remote tuner from Cali has reccommend me to get the Gsport HO or UHO cat converters. He told me this certain cat converter will pass emissions and I won't lose any performance and I can keep them on, I won't need to remove them.

I 100% trust his word on it, but these cats are super expensive and would like to hear if anyone else has a TT setup and had to an equivalent of an emissions test, and what cats they used?

Yes they look like the bees knees of cat converters.
But theh are also like double the price of most other units out there for a pair.

Before I buy them, just wanted to hear other peoples experience on this kind of situation. Surely there is someone else out there who has a TT setup and had to use CATS to do an emissions test?

Do they do a sniffer test as part of your emissions test? Here, they just do an obd2 test and some test facilities will do a visual for cats. I run 100 cell mil spec cats just for the visual effect if I were to get pulled over and the police looked. They wouldn't pass a sniffer test.

Unfortunately, I am sure they do the real deal, a sniffer test and all. Because the engineer told me they will put the car on a dyno and I will get a graph of the emissions through a few runs, or something like that.

;(

Sounds like you're pretty much going to have to go with the cats that your tuner (Seb?) told you to go with.

This. I've got the same FI 100 cell cats, but I can get away with murder as long as I don't have a CEL.

If they only inspect for CEL in certian states, why don't you just use downpipes (no cats)?

Ive had no CEL with my 3" AAM DPs for over 2 yrs.

Yup I might have to, but just wandered if it is overkill.
All good I will order them soon.

The catless smell got old for me many years ago, and the Z was the daily driver at the time.

It's hard to pass a sniffer test even with high flow cats. They are your best option. Just thinking, you could just use a oem cat for the test then swap it out after you pass?

Yea I was thinking this before aswell. But would I need a retune with the OEM cats?

My tuner assured me I don't need a revision with the Gsports cats, and I won't lose power nor need to remove them once sniffer test is complete.

I was gonna suggest GESi cats as that’s what is used in the Audi/VW world, but turns out we’re talking about the exact same cats.

Sorry can’t be of more help but these are the best hfc on the planet apparently, can support 1000 hp.

Yup, for some reason it seems GESi and Gsports are the same cat converters.

Yes they must be one of the best, but there is another brand cat converters I think in Germany that are apparantly even more powerful, I can't remember the brand name but they were like $800US each!

Good lord! That’s some serious loot for a cat. Must be eu regs and tuv compliant.

Yup, i found the names of a few european manufacturers who supply high spec cat converters. Can apparantly handle high HP and still meet EURO emission laws.

HJS - Tuning
Wagnar Tuning
Milltek

Most of them are like 2x the price of the GESi/Kooks Green cat converters. So I wonder what makes them different if they offer the same sort of features?
