Nismo R-Tune cat back
Just had this installed on my Z. This is a true dual exhaust. It is probably what they should have from the factory. From about 3000RPM under acceleration, the sound is intoxicating. My mileage will be going down.

Congrats and enjoy.
Just curious, why did you decide to go with this system? |

They do have a true dual H-pipe on the factory Nismo cars. You just have to get the Nismo version. |

It is a new car, and I didn't want to do anything to affect the warranty. I am retired, so I had the dealer install it even though it is basically just remove and replace. I also expected that it would be high quality, and it is. It looks like jewelry underneath the car. Spooler Yes, the Nismo model does also have a true dual exhaust. It is, however, a different system. I went to a dealer and drove a manual Nismo. I am about half deaf, but there wasn't enough difference to me in sound to warrant a change to that system. That system was also about $400 more than the R-Tune I got. I was tired of my car sounding like some old sedan, and I wanted an increase in volume. I couldn't be more pleased. The only drawback I can see is a decrease in mileage, because I will have my foot on the gas a lot more. Less mileage = More fun |
I had the factory Nismo cat-back on my Z for a few years. I only paid $400 for it and it added a little more power and some growl, but not as much as the car should have. Which is why I upgraded to my FI system a few years ago.
Are you considering an intake as well, or are you stopping here because of the warranty? The right cold air intake combined with your exhaust will really allow the car to breath, which means more growl and HP. |
As far as intake goes, I just changed out the air filters with the K&N filters. From everything I have read, this gives the most bang for the buck. I don't think Stage two gives appreciable benefits for the cost. Stage three was never a consideration for me.
I am pleased with the results these two changes made. I doubt that I will do anything else. |

Congrats on the exhaust, though. Glad you're pleased with it. Nismo products are great quality. |
I'm assuming "Stage 2" refers to short ram intakes. If so, yes, they aren't worth it. Heat soak is a major issue.
Being that warranty is a concern, drop in filters are your best option. |

I can see where OP is going with his mods. I did sit on drop-ins for a bit because of all the reading here and just in general about intakes.
But, some dealers so source and install Stillen parts without voiding warranty. You might feel inclined to do that at some point. Imo, the gains are not perceivable, but if you just want to invest in a bit of aesthetic, that's something to do on the next service if your dealer gives you that option. Enjoy the car. |
