Flowmaster FlowFX catback for the Z. Experience?

Hi-

Does no one have this Flowmaster system? There’s only one video on YouTube (by Flowmaster) and only one short thread on it on this forum. I’ve had good luck with Flowmaster on my other cars. I’m not looking for gains, just sound.

Anyone knows about this exhaust first hand (had it or heard it in person)?

Thanks in advance.

I’m not too surprised that no one on this forum uses the Flowmaster FlowFX catback on their Z or any Flowmaster muffler for that matter. As the Flowmaster FlowFX catback is a chambered design catback exhaust and will actually hinder performance even coming from the stock Genuine Nissan exhaust. I believe that even for sound other catback or axle back exhausts would sound more improved than the Flowmaster FlowFX catback. Our Nissan 370Z’s need a straight through design exhaust system to improve performance and also can improve sound depending on the exhaust you select for your Z. I would recommend possibly installing a Flowmaster catback to someone that drives a Ford Mustang,Chevrolet Camaro, and Dodge Challenger muscle car etc. but never for a Z car. You should search around and try to hear other people’s Z’s in person how have an exhaust you may be interested in installing in person or listen to sound clips online at places like YouTube to give you an idea of what exhaust you may like. FYI the Flowmaster mufflers were originally mufflers specifically for Motorhomes.

Flowmaster FlowFX are actually the only Flowmaster series that has a straight-thru design. A glass-pack design. It doesn't utilize their classic chambered design.

I have it on my 2018 370Z NISMO. It sounds good and it isn't too aggressive. Flowmaster ranks the FlowFX as a moderate sound border-lining towards aggressive. In the cabin, it is a tad bit louder than the stock NISMO muffler and has no droning. On the outside, it is an increase in sound, but nothing like a muffler delete.

The bad thing about glass-pack designs is that the sound absorbing packing that they wrap the straight-thru pipe will eventually burn off and the sound will get increasingly louder. The only concern for me is the interior noise level and if there will be any droning as a result in time.
