Upper/Lower Intake Manifolds

I wanted to start a new thread to bring together all the intake manifold options for the 370z, when I do a search there are few options that always show up but I would like to see if there are others that I have missed. Also if you have any experience with any of these or others I would love to hear it.

What I have currently found:

Z1 VQ37 Intake Plenum
AAM COMPETITION VQ37 PERFORMANCE INTAKE MANIFOLD

Nissan 370Z Intake Manifold – MOTORDYNE M370

And a conversion so you can use a GTR intake which really interests me.
RJM GTR Upper Plenum Conversion Kit

You should probably take the AAM one off since it's complete garbage.

Just curious but what is wrong with it, I haven't really talked to anyone that has run that intake.

It doesn't perform (even if you get one that had ANY quality control), and it's made by one of the absolute worst vendors for this platform.

No one's run it because they came on here and absolutely screwed the pooch with the product launch.

They debuted an extremely overpriced piece with some serious quality control issues and then basically just went ghost.

I have both Z1 pieces, upper and lower. I did the upper by itself and the car certainly felt more responsive. I can't give the same testament to the lower as there was a lot of work done at the same time it went on for me to be able to pick it out individually.

This is good information I really don't want to waste money on something that doesn't work. I appreciate the responses I may just end up doing the conversion and going with a GTR intake.

What is your purpose for changing the manifold?

The GTR manifold is mostly for show cars or high boost cars. I don't think you'll see much of a performance benefit otherwise...

I am looking for an intake that can help with low to mid range torque along with a stroker kit and I will be turning this up over time. My ultimate goal is 1000hp but it will take me some time to get there. I am still doing research but I am starting to feel like doing the conversion will give me more options than sticking with the VQ manifolds. I am looking for feed back and you guys have given me great information to work with so far.

Not sure what the current status of your car is, but if it's still NA as of right now, I'd hold off on even ordering the GTR manifold. You may even lose power not being able to flow enough for the extra capacity. Put that money toward the turbo kit itself. Once you're ready to turn it way up, then that may come into play. I would think any less than 700whp, the GTR mani will be a waste of money, and quite a lot of it as that's not cheap. Somebody else might could put a little more definitive number on where you might should make the switch.

This is really good information, I am currently running about 500+, once I finish the e85 install which will be in a few weeks I will bump it to about 650. Then in about a month or so I will have the stroker kit and stuff installed so I can bump it to 700+. I will just keep doing research for now and keep an eye on this thread for more information. Thank you all again for the input.

CJM is working on a neat manifold.

I had a positive experience with AAM Competition they even went out of their way to help me out with my Z. I had a excellent experience with their customer service and products as well. It just depends what vendors you favor to each their own I say. If you plan on going FI I would definitely consider the AAM Competition VQ37 Performance Intake Manifold would be worth installing and is a quality intake manifold and not worth installing NA in my opinion. If you plan on going NA the Motordyne or Z1 intake manifold would be a better choice in terms of whp and wtq to be cost effective. I wonder what the CJM billet intake manifold will have to offer? I think the CJM billet intake manifold will be worth waiting for!!

Complete horseshit. You've absolutely not seen any of the pictures of what they shipped out to people. It's some of the worst casting you'll ever see, and they do no cleanup.

You really need to give less bad advice.

JARblue 04-26-2019 05:51 AM

:iagree:

If you go AAM, make sure you inspect all runners. They've been known to ship out 90% blocked ones made from a bad mold :ugh2:

If you are going that high of power the RJM GTR conversion is the only reliable option. The stock plastic intakes begin to crack and fail around 20 psi... The GTR conversion really shines in the low and mid range power too.
