Soap/detergent will not remove the discoloration. Soap is a surfactant - it works by making water "wetter". Just about any soap/detergent you have around the house will be OK. Just make sure you rinse real well.
There are some soaps that might not be the best choice as they may etch the metal if left in contact for too long, eg, lye soap. But, in the concentrations you would be using, it would take hours to do much damage.

Looks clean enough to jump right to Meguires polish.
https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-MC20.../dp/B001G9O528 It's a durable metal, it should be fine to use something like that. |

No ****, laundry detergent?? Lol that's wild. Maybe a bucket of water and car wash soap, grab a Micro Fiber and go to town with it then dry off, I'm just afraid of "Discoloration/Fading".

I've been using this for my F.I. Exhaust tips - seems to work well.

Any decent microfiber should be fine for application. The metal polishing microfiber I use has one side with shorter pile that is good for polishing and one side with longer pile that is good for final buffing.

Soap will only remove dirt and debris making it look clean; metal polish will make it shine.
I use Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish

Pretty much what JARBlue said. I use one microfiber to apply and work it in and then another for a final buffing. Not too complicated.

I use the same stuff on my FI tips.... If you can remove the exhaust, you can polish the whole thing using a buffer. Most people just polish areas they're going to see on a regular basis.

I was planning to just put my car on a lift and clean from there instead of taking them off just using a couple of Microfibers. The dirt and salt isn't TOO bad so I can just rinse and buff.
