The method I've used for several decades to find leaks, rattles, etc. is to put one end of a paper towel core, piece of garden hose, etc to my ear

The method I've used for several decades to find leaks, rattles, etc. is to put one end of a paper towel core, piece of garden hose, etc to my ear and move the other end around until I find the leak. Be very careful when doing this around a running engine - keep fingers, clothing, hair, etc away from moving parts.
