Which exhaust should I get?
Hello everyone so I'm pretty new to the car world, I'm a noob lol, but I had my 370z manual Non-Nismo for a year now. Never did any modifications just a few cosmetics but now I'm really looking to spice up the excitement while I drive. I really like to hear the exhaust from within the car while I'm changing gears, with a regular 370z it doesn't sound that exhilarating. Anyway, I'm looking for something that will noticeably make the car sound different but not too loud and obnoxious or not too low. I know there are many ways to change the sound what is the best way? or what exhaust should I look into? Thank you.

Fast intentions CBE, or Motordyne both sound amazing. Especially with high flow cats or test pipes. I run the carbon FI exhaust with Motordyne art pipes and get tons of compliments.

Fast Intention. thats all you need to know.
give them a call and kevin or tony will guide you through the options to best fit your needs/wants. personally, based on your post, i would recommend the FI cat back exhaust with 12" resonators and carbon fiber muffler. 12" res will take out a good bit of drone in cabin and carbon fiber muffler has an exotic higher pitch sound vs their stainless steel muffler set up. now if in the end that isnt loud enough for you then you go for test pipes or long tube header.s but if you dont want excessive volume (and leave stock cats on) then id say start with the CBE. |
The standard recipe for modifying Z’s on this forum is Fast Intentions exhaust ($1100 - $1300 + a few months wait time) and Swift springs if you want a drop without buying coilovers.
If money isn’t an object, the motordyne shockwave is the one to get. Excellent craftsmanship and amazing sound. However, there are a lot of people on here who are extremely happy with the Invidia Gemini (myself included) as a less expensive alternative. It will run you $850 shipped from a number of vendors on here. You get your choice of exhaust tips and a nice rumble without being too loud. |
There are lots of clips on youtube that give you an idea of what various configurations of fast intentions sound like
I have the resonated high flow cat and 18-inch resonated exhaust. it is barely louder than stock under around 3000 rpm. After that you can rip it and hear the thing scream. This suits me because I drive the car on the street and don't need that much attention If your situation is different you can get non resonated options, or if you want to spend the money, go with their long-tube headers and exhaust combo which eliminates the cat and will give you plenty of sound |
Fast Intentions.

Depending upon what you're working with budget wise it may/may not influence your selections. I'm putting back bucks for an ARK but most run FI. You have a bunch of options...HKS, Invidia, Motordyne etcetera...but for a solid name brand exhaust you're looking at a grand plus...good luck with your hunt!!

I got this on my car and love it.

You should try to hear someone’s Z that has done exhaust in person or get on YouTube and start hearing sound clips. You may like the Greddy Evolution GT exhaust for you’re Z? Mix that with high flow cats or test pipes and you’re Z will sound really nice!

I went with the Fast Intentions 12' resonated CBE with Stainless mufflers and let me tell you it sounds amazing. The difference from stock is like night and day and observable from your first start up. The exhaust is much louder until about 3000 rpm and sounds increasingly more loud and aggressive once you start getting over 3000 to 7000 rpm. Go with Fast Intentions, their customer service is FANTASTIC and Kevin will take care to explain everything about the exhaust and recommend the best setup to obtain what you want. I will be getting test pipes from them later on down the road. The big thing for me going with this exhaust was the reviews regarding their service and craftsmanship. You cant go wrong with the Fast Intentions CBE. :driving:

Go Tomei! You won’t regret it

I concur, Fast Intentions CBE is the way to go.

Doesn't Fast Intentions have an awful drone in the cabin?

FI OPTIONS: high flow cats w/ resonators - least power gain & least volume/drone HFC/no res - low drone decent power test pipes w/ res - good power slight drone reduction non-res test pipes - most power/most noise long tube headers - :driving: CBE: 18" resonators - least drone, slightly less ext volume 12" resonators - small drone no resonators - :driving: on a sidenote pretty much any aftermarket exhaust there is going to be some drone at some RPM its kinda how sound waves work and if you want to add some power/volume you cant be a little bitch about a bit of in cabin noise. its a sports car, its how it should sound. i have the non-res CBE w/ CF mufflers and non-res TPs. also i have my set of FI straight pipes. |

Resonators are purely cosmetic. Their only job is the modify the sound. The HP difference is essentially nothing.

i do not know if you planned on swapping out the stock cats or what your gain goals are. |
Quote:
yes, resonators dont even drop exterior volume at all either. they primarily reduce in cabin drone and smooth out the sound. |

How would you rate the 18' Resonator Fast Intentions vs Greddy Evolution GT? |
Quote:
Greddy makes good products as well. the evo gt is a good system i just dont think you need 3" on a Z without turbos. |
Which exhaust should I get?

I rarely agree with Frank, but he’s spot on here. 3” is probably overkill on a basic TT setup. You’d only get a restriction if you are pushing the limits of the stock block or running corn. |

Fast Intentions is definitely a popular favorite with over 1,900 units sold for the 370Z.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Kevin |
Motordyne Shockwave w/ test pipes or long tubes and your golden.
