Question About Midpipe Flow
My current exhaust set up is Motordyne ART pipes and non res AAM short tails. The rest of the exhaust is stock. It sounds choked up to me. I'm looking at what to get to free up the flow a bit.
I'm deciding between AAM's S Line mid pipe and Motordyne's XYZ pipe. My Question is if I go with the Motordyne XYZ am I still going to have a lot of this choking sound due to it not replacing the full mid pipe opposed to the AAM? |
Hey man I’m in Memphis too, I see you’re selling your short tails so you must’ve figured out what set up you want next already? I’ve been wanting to change my set up too, but to answer your question yes it will sound pretty similar since you’re only changing the y pipe and not the whole midpipe. If you get the aam midpipe you’ll be switching from your stock y pipe to a h pipe so it will sound a bit deeper. I’ve got the short tails and aam midpipe along with their resonated test pipes.

Being an h pipe the AAM Competition S-Line mid pipe will have better flow characteristics than the Motordyne XYZ y pipe and stock OEM Nissan y pipe. I ran the AAM Competition resonated shorttail exhaust and AAM Competition S-Line mid pipe on my last Z and have seen the Motordyne XYZ y pipe in person. I believe that the AAM Competition S-Line mid pipe has better quality, great fitment, will have a deeper, more throaty and aggressive sound. I would also keep your AAM Competition non resonated shorttail exhaust . Just depends what how you want to give your business to and what sound note from your exhaust do you like? I would recommend you try to hear the exhaust set up you like in person on someone else’s Z or try to find sound clips.
