Question about muffler delete and cai

So I have a muffler delete on my car and I really wanna get the Stillen long tube cai. However I know if you get a full new cbe that you would need a tune if you add a cai to that. What I don't know is, is if a muffler delete would be considered a big enough mod to make me need a tune with a cai installed... Should I just wait or would it be okay to get the cai now ?

I just installed an Invidia CBE and was thinking of a Z1 Long tube intake. (No cutting like the Stillen and very close dyno numbers for both.) I have the same concerns also. Right now just threw in some K&N stock air filters and will be getting some post MAF silicone tubes. That is until I can afford to do a HCF, CAI and tune. You should be ok with a CAI and muffler delete. I would do the CAI but I just don't want to do anything to decrease the life of the motor.

The Z1 Motorsports full length CAI will have great fitment and is a direct bolt on unlike the Stillen CAI as you will more than likely have to modify it to fit unfortunately. With a HFC,CAI,or catback exhaust you do not have to get a tune it is not mandatory and a CAI will not decrease the life of your engine without a tune that is nonsense where did you hear that from? If you really want to maximize your whp and wtq gains than I recommend getting a tune.

I work on motorcycles for over 10yrs and do quite a bit of dyno tuning on bikes. My personal experience when both the intake and exhaust have been upgraded they end up running very lean. A lean condition will end up causing damage to the piston rings in the motor. This is what I don't want to happen to my car. So you are saying that if I do exhaust and CAI the car will be fine with the factory tune? I am not willing to test this. I will wait and do a HFC, CAI with a tune.

Just intake and muffler delete aren't going to cause you issues. Our cars run a little rich from the factory to begin with.
