Default AAM Short Tails vs FI Exhaust Drone

I'll start by saying I've read through most of the relevant threads pertaining to this topic. Unable to come up with a clear answer I figured I'd create a new thread. I also realize that "Drone" and how loud a noise is will be subjective to every individual.

I recently purchased the AAM short tails for my car. (Which is my daily driver and completely stock) I love the sound of them however the drone is unbearable to me. I was looking for something with some sound to it, but this is way too much cabin noise for me. (My full exhaust turbo Supra is quieter on the inside than this)

I'm now looking at getting a Fast Intentions with an 18" resonators. I've read there is some drone to these as well. Question is, is it anything like the short tails? In car sound clips haven't done the drone justice for me at all. Does anyone have any experience hearing both of them?

If the drone is similar decibals then I suppose I'm just putting my stock exhaust back on for now and selling the AAM Tails.

Exhaust is very subjective and there are a lot of different exhausts for the Nissan 370Z vehicles because everyone has different tastes and likes different sounding exhausts I understand. The stock exhaust that Nissan put on the 370Z's is very mellow and pretty much on the quiet side for a exhaust for a Japanese sport car. The thing that most 370Z enthusiasts don't like so much about the stock Nissan exhaust is that it weights more and is a lot more restrictive to exhaust flow and functions as more of a bottle neck in the exhaust system. If you are like me I have the non-resonated AAM short tail exhaust and love the volume, sound, drone, and extra interior noise of the AAM short tail exhaust. I am amazed of the quality of the AAM short tail exhaust and their other exhaust components they are top notch and excellent customer service to their customers. I know two people that have the FI exhaust with 12" and 18" resonators. In my opinion this exhaust sounded like a muffled exotic supercar sound and has quite a bit of volume and sound and gets louder when you have a heavier foot on the petal. Cabin/interior noise only seemed alittle bit louder than the stock Nissan exhaust to me. The FI exhaust is high quality but, costs a lot of coin and it takes longer to get. Overall FI has excellent customer service though. I would try to hear different people's exhaust on their 370Z to see what exhausts you like. I would opted for the FI exhaust with 12" resonators instead.

change your exhaust tip or extend you exhaust tip make them further sticking out of the rear end of your car, that will eliminate some of the drone. even that sounded funny but it will work.
go to any auto store get some extension pipes and some clamps to test it out before you weld them in.

I have the FI exhaust without resonators. There is little drone in my opinion and it is not overbearing except where maybe you're pulling a hill. The drone doesn't bother me though. I can't imagine the 18" resonators would have much at all...

Also, comparing an aftermarket performance exhaust on a turbo car vs. one on an NA car is not a fair fight.

I have a 18" FI and you get a little drone going up a hill in higher gear or lower RPM but it's not overbearing at all and a quick downshift gets rid of it if it's bothering you.
