Anyone have TopSpeed Pro1 titanium straight axle back?

Hi all, I got an itch that I just can't help but scratch even though I swore I would not go down this road again. I love my '16 Nismo

Default Anyone have TopSpeed Pro1 titanium straight axle back?

Hi all,

I got an itch that I just can't help but scratch even though I swore I would not go down this road again. I love my '16 Nismo but lets face it guys, it is definitely on the quiet side. A little too quiet.

I'm really liking the TopSpeed Pro-1 full titanium straight axle-back exhaust. Its basically a muffler delete. I'm just worried it ends up being way too loud. Anyone have this exhaust or heard what it sounds like on a Nismo specifically? I cannot find anything on YouTube or Google, more specifically, sound clips. I'm thinking that it won't be too loud since I'm keeping everything else stock. I just want a slightly louder exhaust note with a little burbling between shifts. I don't want drone or obnoxiously loud, wake-up-the-neighbors type of exhaust.

Thanks for your help.

Do yourself a favour, get the FI CBE for your '16 Nismo Z. You will not be disappointed.
Great quality + super sound + added HP = a happy Cyber370!

Muffler delete = loud! No way around it.

Yes, Muffler delete = loud + vibrations + drone + unwanted attention from law enforcement = f**king PITA!!!
This is what you want, don't wait too long, this is an awesome deal: Fast Intensions Exhaust $350

It will be loud. I have these installed and it's pretty loud. I imagine the ones your looking at will only be louder due to the fact that they're basically a delete.

I agree tho... the Nismo is way too quiet stock. I love the sound now with just the axle-backs but I do feel like cold starts in the morning probably piss my neighbors off. Plus, like Nixin said, putting these on comes along with a host of new vibrations to try and track down.

FI is definitely on my list of future purchases but for the price, the TopSpeeds were a great compromise for me.

I have a nismo also and absolutely love the AAM short tails. literally the same thing as the top speed you pictured. Yeah, it can be a little loud but I personally love the tone.. I never once had a problem with police. I didn't even have a problem with police later when I put test pipes on (to loud for me).. If you keep an eye out they pop up used regularly.. if I were you I would start here since it is considerably cheaper than a full cat back and see what you think. you may love it and if not just sell them. used short tails are going form 200-350 depending on condition and if you get a used set and don't like them you probly will not loose any money reselling them and would of got to try it out for free.. just a thought

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm glad I asked the question. I'm gonna research this a little longer before I pull the trigger. I don't want drone and vibration. I think a muffler delete axle-back is not for me.

I recently changed to a beluga racing axle back on my nismo after getting test pipes and it toned the test pipes down a lot. although I haven't ran the belugas with stock cats I would guess it would just ad a little tone to the exhaust and not be loud or drone at all.. search nismo with beluga on youtube and im sure there's a few examples

Those were next on my list. I am assuming they are the same as Beluga? Are they also loud inside the car considering that we have a noise-cancelling system in the Nismo? How does it cope with drone from inside the car. Not too worried about the neighbours since my car is strictly a weekend toy.

I think I will stay away from the muffler-delete type axle-backs. But damn, I loved the titanium.

I wouldn't say the muffler delete is over the top loud. In fact its nothing like when you go test pipes on these cars. I think its the perfect level of sound. I have the AAM resonated axle back on my 15' and its the perfect amount of loudness when you get on it, but damn quiet when cruising.

This is a short clip of the axle-back i have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnBppXftXTM

Yup. That sounds pretty much like the top speeds I have. I agree... perfect level of sound for me.

Well guys, after doing a load of research on various axlebacks and listening to an enormous amount of sound clips on YouTube, I think that I will go with the Beluga/TopSpeed/J2 axlebacks. I like the sound and they look like they fit pretty well.
From what I've been able to figure out, those three axlebacks are from the same manufacturer. So I'll just basically go with the best price. Don't know what's happened with Beluga pricing on EBay but Beluga is now selling their version for $1300!!! Yeah right!
The other two are selling for about $250 - $300. So I guess I'll try them out. For that price, I'm willing to take a chance.

One question I have is, how they will fit in a 15+ Nismo? I'm just wondering if there are any differences underneath such as hanger placement, clearance, etc.? Anyone with a Nismo that could chime in? How's the bumper clearance?

Thanks guys!

Bumper clearance is perfect. Fit is pretty spot-on. Had to add a couple washers under the passenger side hanger to get both sides level... not a big deal and I'd advise having a buddy help hold them in position as you tighten them. Makes it much easier
